CH 1 / The Beginning

Buzz - Buzz - Buzz
"Ugh" I groan in annoyance waving my hand searching for my phone on my table besides my bed. I dismiss the alarm and rub my eyes to adjust to the morning. "I really need to change that sound it's getting annoying" I tell myself.

I get up and walk towards the bathroom thats across from my room. I take a quick shower and dry off and pick a basic outfit because it's Monday, no one cares.

I walk downstairs to an amazing smell of bacon & eggs. "Good morning, mom" I say, "Morning hun, want some breakfast?" She asks nicely. I use to struggle with an eating disorder and i was close to death, if i didn't tell my mom that day, a week later i most likely would have died.

I'm grateful for my Mom and i'm an only child. I never knew my dad, my mom doesn't mention him but she told me he left us because he wasn't ready to be a dad. I was birthed when my mom was only 16. We never really struggled financially because of my grandparents who I love deeply.

"Sure, by the way i need you to sign a field trip permission slip for my photography class, we're going down to some museum and it seems cool" I tell her. "Sure honey, I'll have it signed before you leave" She replies, I finish eating up and put the signed permission slip back in my jansport backpack.

I walk towards the door and say goodbye to my mom, I put in my headphones and go through a selection of songs and choose "Butterfly" by Mariah Carey. I walk across the street and down some sidewalks and reach my bus stop, A crowd of other people are centered near the road but not close enough to be in risk. I cross my arms and wait in the cold weather until the bus arrives.

Once the bus arrives i get on and choose an empty and stare out the window already wanting to go home. The bus starts driving and im knocked out of my thoughts when i feel a bump on my shoulder, "Sup, names Ryder" He says happily, "Hi, my names Winter" I reply shyly. "I'm new haha so that's why I sat here, sorry if I bothered you" He said nervously. "No, it's fine, i don't mind" I say smiling.

"What school did you use to go to?" I ask him, "I use to go to Eaglehigh but transferred here because of school rumors" He replied. "oh, that sucks I'm sorry, our school isnt usually like that except when theres fights or stuff like that" I say trying to make him feel better. "Hopefully haha, when we get to school can you help me to my classes please, your the only person I know here. He says pleadingly. "Of course, This school was confusing on my first day it's okay" I say.

The bus comes to a stop and before I know it everyones getting off. I get off and walk with Ryder towards the schools main doors, We walk inside and I wave to some of my friends before I walk into the school office.

"Hi, schedule for Ryder Hummings" he asks nicely to the Lady behind the computer. "Yes I'll get that that to you in just a minute" She says smiling. We wait and hear a "zshh" sound and then Ryder is given his schedule, "Here you go, have a good first day" she says happily. "Thanks" he says and we walk out, "Let me see your schedule" I ask him.

He hands me the schedule and I read each period. "We have first and fourth together" I say. "Phew, I was worried we wouldn't get first together" he says relieved. We walk together to first which is my most boring class of the day, I take a seat and tell Ryder to sit next to me since the kid who usually sits next to me is either in the detention room or is skipping class. I dont blame him though, if my mom didn't check my attendance I'd be skipping this class regularly.

Ryder takes his seat and the bell rings, Mr.Lengton starts the class by introducing Ryder and making him share two facts about himself, then we start the boring english lecture which I usually forget by the end of the day. The bell rings thankfully felt like an eternity then I lead Ryder to his next class and then walk to mine, luckily ours aren't too far apart so I won't be late.

The rest of my day is easier since there not as boring and I have friends in each class, before I know it the bell rings and everyone's dissmissed to go home. I walk out towards the school's doors and see rain and it looks like there's going to be a thunder storm, I'm really sccared of thunder storms and usally have my mom sleep with me on days like these.

I reach my bus and get on and take a seat and don't see Ryder, I worry and decide to get off and look for him. I walk inside the school to see him confused and lost on the second floor, I yell at him to come down."Hey, haha this school is more confusing than my last one" he says while laughing. "It's okay, i was worried and guess I was right you were lost" I say while giggling.

I lead him outside and realize our bus already left, I get worried and ask Ryder if he can get us a ride. Thankfully he says yes and fifteen mintues pass and our ride shows up. I get in the back and put my seat belt on and stay quiet, I eye the driver and he seems around his thirties, Hes muscular, has a dark beard that leads up to a mustache and the side of his face, and also seems tall. He catches me staring and I quickly look away to the window.

"Is that him?" I hear the man say, "Yeah" Ryder says. I look back at the man and see him glance at me then back on the road, i get a creepy vibe and I lead them towards my house, thankfully we're not too far. We reach my house and I thank them both before stepping out of the car, I watch them drive off and notice the car is very fancy and seemed like a Lamborghini.

I grab my key from my backpack and unlock the door and step inside, I sigh in relief finally arriving home and grateful of having no homework. I yell at my mom that im home but then remember she has a meeting and isn't going to be back till this Sunday.

I go into the kitchen and grab a short snack and see a 100$ bill on the counter with a note underneath, "sorry for having to leave so long but you know how urgent and important these meetings are, I left 100$ on the counter and use it ONLY FOR EMERGENCIES
- Love you, Mom"

I walk upstairs to my room and strip to only my boxers and decide to watch some Netflix. I choose "Gossip Girl" and watch the next episode, I fly threw the episodes and lose track of time and next thing I know i can barely keep my eyes open.

I shut my laptop off and shift to a comfortable sleeping position and drift off to sleep, I feel something watching me and look up to see my window open and thunder striking loudly. I suddenly get scared and run to close my window. I get back into bed feeling better since the thunder is now quieter, I feel uneasy still but shrug it off.

I almost fall asleep but suddenly i feel cold wet cloth around my mouth and i panic and scream but they come out like whispers and muffled yells. I slowly can't keep my eyes open any longer and try to see the object infront of me that's doing this, I focus my eyes on the person and don't believe what I see...

Ryder??!
