“The man who got to be a flower with a hundred petals
Admiring himself in a pool forever
While the girl who loved him was only a voice
Unable even to choose her words”
-excerpt from Psyche in a Dress by Francesca Lia Block
When I first saw you
I was enchanted by your handsome face
Your gorgeous lips
Your prominent nose tip
Your captivating eyes
Your almost perfect smile
You seemed like a god fallen from the sky
I followed you everyday
Making sure that you’re okay
I didn’t care whatever they say
Be loved by you is what I pray
You looked good in your own fashion
And it just increased my admiration
My heart was filled with every emotion
And it’s great to feel this new sensation
Then, I had the urge to introduce myself
And let you know about what I felt
With trembling knees, I came near you
Introduced myself and be known by you
Unfortunately, you just ignored me
Declaring that I am not a perfect beauty
I was not good enough for you
I am not a goddess to be loved by you
You say the words that hurt me so much
It was as if my heart had been worn out
Then love became hatred
And I want you to feel impaired
So I went to Nemesis to ask for revenge
I want you to be punished
To feel broken and damaged
She had grant my wish and I felt satisfaction
To see you admiring your own reflection
You’ve seen nothing but your own perfection
And you’ll forever adore your own icon
After that, I chose to fade
It was the consequence for what I beg
But though I’m gone I left my voice
Repeating every word I can’t even choose
But now I realized what I have done
There is no way I can bring back the time
If only, I just loved you from afar
I shouldn’t be hurt by a gorgeous mortal.
