I kept running. Ignoring the pain in my side and my hair which was being made heavier from each droplet that soaked my long, raven locks. I had to keep going. I felt like my legs would collapse on me if I stopped for even a second and I would be stuck lying on pavement defenseless and alone. The musty glow from the distant street lights filled the alleyways. Right, left, right. Each turn made my mind ache and as I climbed up the fire escape I could hear the yelps and shouts from the drunken men that wandered the streets outside my apartment complex.
I looked around scanning for anyone that could have followed me back then gently climbed through my window which I had left ajar. I walked over to my mirror to survey the damage. My tight leather jeans were slightly muddy but had ripped just below the knee. It was easily fixed once I bought the right materials and my top was soaked from the rain and sweat but didn't have any obvious impairments.
I undressed and stepped into the shower. I rinsed off but didn't bother to completely wash my hair. I turned off the warm water to be instantly hit by the cold air and grabbed a towel, unlocked the door, and walked towards my room. Just as I was reaching out for the door handle my mother''s voice came from the kitchen. "You ok pet. You look a little tired from work, you get dressed now and I'll make you a coffee"
"No mum, it's 3 in the morning you should be resting, get to bed I can make it myself"
I could see the pain in my mum's eyes but she just smiled and as she went to pass me kissed my cheek and wandered of to her bed.
I lifted out my old pyjamas and and brushes my hair and left it down so I could dry naturally. I returned to the kitchen where loaded the dryer and scrubbed plates and brushed up the beautiful dark hair.
My knuckles were already starting to bruise and my side still had a sharp pain that made trying to sleep nearly impossible.
I really hope Bessie was ok now.
I sat down with my striped bucket of popcorn ignoring the fact that it was turning 4 in the morning and watched my favourite show, Riverdale. I thought I would miss it and ran nearly 3 miles just to watch it in time.
I was just settling down when I remember my badge. Good thing I hadn't already put the washer on or I would of ruined my work badge.
It was green and black with a cow in the middle to symbolise the diary farm. Poor old Bessie had kicked my side and I had landed on the floor with on my knuckles.
I watched the end of riverdale before preforming my favourite poem my hoggie by rabbie burns in the mirror to help me sleep before resting my head on the slimy pillow.
