"Imagine a world where there were no limits, no one to make you feel unloved, or any opportunity to ruin your day. You would be free. You would be happy, hopeful, motivated... I think that's what we all need. We all need someone or something to make us feel like we belong. It is a necessity for human life, after all. We all need to know that what we do is important, and not just for nothing. The only problem is, we'll never have a world like this. We'll never have a world where negativity and crime doesn't exist. That being said, instead of dreaming of an impossible world, dream about what you can change to make this world better."
I've always been told that I'm a huge dreamer, and that I need to face reality more often. I usually don't pay attention during class or family gatherings; my favourite thing to do is dream, whether it's during the day or the night. I've been convinced that Earth is boring and unoriginal, so when I dream about mythical and unrealistic worlds, it makes me feel relaxed and motivated. The one thing that I enjoy most about the world that we call "Earth" is its amazing wildlife and nature; it de-stresses me to take walks every now and then, just to take in the scenery.
One rainy night, I was walking in a field littered with wet grass, holding my umbrella above my head to protect me from the rain. I stopped in my tracks, and looked up to the sky. It was plain and dull; only a blanket of grey clouds were above, blocking the beautiful view of the star-speckled universe. I began to dream of a gorgeous sky - one that was coloured with purples, pinks, and blues. It was filled with stars, and maybe even visible planets. It was amazing, but it wasn't anything I could ever see with my own eyes - only with my mind.
I sighed and shook my head lightly as I brought my attention back to reality, realizing that the rain had stopped. I looked at up at the sky again, hoping to see more than just grey clouds... and I did. The sky was amazing, beautiful, stunning, gorgeous... breathtaking. It was what I've dreamt of; covered in purples, pinks, and blues, with stars absolutely everywhere. I couldn't believe what I saw - I must have been dreaming. I soon noticed that the stars almost seemed to be falling towards me. It was as if they were each being slowly ripped out of the sky, and descending to the ground. I looked around me, watching the stars slowly surround me in their bright, calming light. I took a deep breath, wishing that someone was here to share this experience with me. However, I knew this was only temporary, and only I was lucky enough to see it. Surely it was only a short amount of time until I had to go back to the real world that we call "Earth".
Author's Note: Don't let other people put you down or tell you not to dream. Do what you love to do most; it doesn't matter what other people say you should or shouldn't love (as long as you're not hurting yourself or other people).
★★★
Sorry if this is too dramatic, it's the first short story that I've written in a while - let alone published on Wattpad :)
Thanks for reading! ♥
