The darkness seeps back in as I looked back at the text I got from the person that could either save me or destroy me.  The person I trusted so much that I told even the darkest secrets to.  The person that would forever alter my entire world and dreams.  The person who built be back up from the ground, only to bring me down with just words.  The person who was there to hold me when something happened that I couldn't tell anyone else.

Our friendship began in the fourth grade with a series of tragic events.  Events that altered our future together as friends, whether I wanted to admit it or not then, I knew it would be the last time I would be happy for a long while.

Sometimes I think I should thank those who hurt me because they shaped who I am today.  At the time it hurt, but it's made me a stronger person.  However, the guilt of not appreciating the friends I had weighs me down, the heart ache returns every time I think about how I could have saved my former friend from the path she took.  Or how I could have saved people from the mass destruction that would be left in our wake as we fought day and night.

Every time I see a memory of the past, I see the opportunity to tell the deepest secret that I haven't told anyone.  A secret that has been tearing me apart from the inside out since the beginning.  I didn't think I had the strength to tell her, but now I realize it wasn't me.  It was her.  She was my strength. My light. My everything.  I let her go to nothingness.  To darkness.
