Everything was normal. I lived on just a normal farm in Kansas with my big brother, Max, my little sister, Megan, and both my parents were farmers. I went to school like a normal 15 year old girl. After school I did normal things like I worked on the farm and would do my homework when I was done. My life was ordinary and nothing big really happened in our town. We lived in what felt like the smallest town in Kansas. We lived in Ottawa, Kansas with only about 12,000 people living there.
I wasn't a popular kid in school. Though I wasn't a weirdo either. I had some friends, about a group with five close ones. I played volleyball and most of my friends were on the team. Max, on the other hand was popular. He was this football and baseball player every girl dreamed about. He had the spiked up hair and always wore those Hollister and American Eagle shirts and sweatshirts. Even though every girl in the school wanted Max, he didn't want to have a girlfriend. I didn't understand why but that's what he told me. Being popular you would think he would be mean but, he is actually one of the nicest people I know. Even though I didn't know it soon, all of this was about to change.
I went to bed after doing two hours of math homework, and went to sleep right away. I was having a dream, at least I thought it was a dream. People were carrying me in a big concrete tunnel, like the ones cars went through. They weren't normal people though, They were wearing black masks over their faces and I didn't know why. They looked like ski masks but had a symbol on the back of them. The symbol looked like a flower with a flame surrounding it. All of them had the same symbol and matching hats. They were also wearing jackets with the symbol and plain black pants. Soon, they dropped me in what looked like a small elevator and one of them pushed a button.
The elevator doors closed and it shot up. I screamed out of fear. When it stopped, I crawled out of the elevator into a plain white room with only a big silver door. Doing what any person would do I got up and tried to open the door. Of course, like I expected it was locked. I tried to open it a few times but gave up quickly. I did not know where I was, how I got there, or how I was going to escape this room. I looked at my surroundings. Nothing. Nothing I could use to get out or anything at all to unlock the door. I was sitting in complete silence for what seemed like hours. Then I heard something.
I heard talking I just know I did. It was very quiet and muffled but I heard it. It sounded like a man. Then, a few moments later I heard it again but this time it was a woman. I kept listening for a while. They kept talking I just couldn't hear what they were saying. I'm sure I heard them say Max, my 17 year old brother's name, and then I got scared. What if they had taken Max and Megan? Megan is just ten years old she wouldn't know what to do or how to try to escape without being caught if they took her.
Then I had a flashback. I could see Max and I running through the fields on the farm. Our dad driving the tractor and my mom pregnant with Megan. Max was an okay brother I guess. When I was younger I was very gullible, and Max was aware of this. He always tricked me into doing things like picking up the cow's poop with bare hands. When I got a bit older Max and I became good friends and, we did almost everything together.
After my flashback, I continued to listen to the conversation still making out very little words. Then it was when I realized the talking kept getting louder and louder and it sounded closer and closer and then, I could hear someone place their hand on the door and turn the knob.
