It was a morning like every other Thursday morning. A combination of the excitement for the next day and the imminent day ahead was enough emotions for Cody that day. Like most American teenagers, Cody's schedule went something like this: Wake up, get dressed, complain about school, and if you're lucky, getting through the day without thinking of quitting school and becoming a drug dealer at least three times. As if school wasn't enough, Cody also had another problem. His dad.
While Cody despised calling him by "dad" Richard persisted it on it, and what Richard wanted, he got.
"Boy, how may times have I got to tell you, your stuff is your responsibility, now if something went missing or not I can't help, not my fault." Roared Richard in his heavy southern accent, every word stabbing into Cody deeper, as if trying to shred him to pieces.
"And how many times do I have to tell you my name is Cody, not boy. Just like yours is Richard and not dad." Cody spat back. Now normally Cody would never smart off like this, as he knew the consequences, but he took his chances and raced off after the bus before Richard could say or do anything to him. "Hopefully he won't remember that by the time I get home." Cody thought positively, but he knew that the latter was true.
The bus ride was quiet as per usual in the mornings, Cody took out his earbuds and allowed himself some peace before he arrived at his school.
Soon enough his bus, 10-51, had pulled up into the school parking lot, and one by one the other kids on his bus filed off. Cody went last, he was the patient type and didn't mind waiting if he knew he wouldn't have to fight anyone to get off. During homeroom (for Cody, this was science, he liked the teacher but wasn't so sure of vice versa). The class was asked to take out yesterday's lab sheet and begin, Cody reached into his binder to grab it but realized it wasn't there. He decided not to cause a scene and just asked his lab partner Rob if he'd let him just look on with him for the day. He picked up the paper, started reading and realized, "all of this is just gibberish.". "What?? Cody dude you're tripping balls there's nothing wrong with my handwriting." Rob replied calmly. "No dude these are just symbols and lines they don't make any sense.". Cody was feeling very confused, the entire period he just listened to the teacher ramble on about the lesson, when the period was over and the bell rang he heard an all too familiar sound, it was his alarm clock.
