A/N
I just want everyone who reads this to know that I put the reference 'golden ticket' because a.) I loved the movie(s) and probably had just finished watching it before writing this and b.) I couldn't think of any other thing to use at the time and just don't feel like changing anything in the transition from long-writing to typing....
If I were anybody else, I would have jumped with joy to see the Prince Bryce of Ryvenue, the most beloved bachelor among all the girls with fallopian tubes.
If I were anybody else, I wouldn't have been late to school that day, the day when it was strictly mandatory that you show up (unless you were sick, obviously. Otherwise it would be a six page, single-spaced essay on the current political stand-point of the kingdom of Ryvenue- something I had not, nor would I ever, know anything about because I don't watch any news).
If I were anybody else, I would have worn something more flashy than my casual, yet very comfy burgundy oversized sweater and my faded black jeans with the holes in the knees, accompanied by my silver charm bracelet and dirty converse sneakers.
No, of I were anybody else, I would have realised how dressed up everybody else be in order to get the prince's attention to either:
A.) get in his pants
B.) they had no choice because their parents would rather die than have their kid appear before royalty in something comfortable.
C.) your family just did laundry and you had all of your clothes cleaned, unlike me, who had nothing but dirty clothes.
If only I were anybody else, I wouldn't have been a sworn enemy with the stubborn auditorium door that seemed to work for everyone, except for me.
Sadly, I was me, and I wasn't going to let a door be the reason I for stuck writing an essay when I could be eating a bowl of chunky-chip ice cream and binge watching my favorite show Hero Girl. I rammed into the door which decided at the last minute to open, sending me falling onto the hardwood floor. I would probably have bruises not only on my elbow, but thanks to my awkward position when I landed, my knee and my I knuckles.
I shook my hand out and hissed at the pain, before glaring up at the door only to find out it wasn't the door's fault (for once). Standing in front of me were two big guards with black and blue uniforms.
They must have to allow me in. I thought.
I was suddenly aware of how quiet it had gotten. Before there were hundreds cheers being made by the majority of the student body at Bill Great Academy. Now, it was quiet.
You know how there are people who can tell when they're being stared at? Yeah, well, I'm not one of those people and even I know that there were people looking at me.
I turned my head fast that the rest of my light-brown hair fell from the already falling apart braid.
If I thought I was awkward and embarrassed for falling in front every cute guy in Hillcrest and prince Bryce, it was multiplied when I saw the camera lends of a station 4, Royal and Political News Live.
The Prince stared at me along with everybody else in the room and half of the nation watching me fail on live t.v.
I've never been comfortable in the spotlight, I always did everything in my power to stay in the background. So, not only did I get stuck in the position where I was completely visible for the while world to see-
My face paled and I scrambled to my feet, turned and started clawing and prying to get between the guards to leave... Or hide behind them. Simultaneously, they bumped me away without breaking composure.
When that was out of the question, I turned back to the crowd and shielded my face from the camera with my hand. Finally, after a moment of hesitation, I took one step towards the bleachers. Then another. Step. Step. Step. Until I finally reached the stands and climbed the metal boards until I was at the top and away from my classmates watchful eyes.
I sat curled in on myself until I felt the light weight of a hand on my shoulder. I looked at my best friends- who were also dating each other- Bree Tanner and Alex Blackwell, who in the midst of my dilemma had braved the criticizing glare to sit by me.
Well, Alex did. Bree was guarding us with his big build just in front of is. He looked up at me with his dark brown eyes. I sighed, exasperated with him already, and gave him a pat on the head.
The entire student body had turned their attention back to the. Blonde haired, blue eyes, 19 year old crown prince who had began to speak again.
I refused to look up in fear that anybody would still be looking at me, I took Alex's purple blanket- which she always brought to assemblies- and hid under the soft daffodil scented fleece. Once I was settled, I started listening to what the prince was saying.
"So as a result of the frequent riots, we have put a 'golden ticket' of sorts in one of these candy bars. Each girl in this gym who are graduating from this academy this upcoming month is to take one- and only one. Inside of them will be your assignment in the castle." Prince Bryce said brightly. "Don't worry, gentlemen, you'll be receiving some chocolate as well. Only yours will be coming from this box over here."
I couldn't see where he was pointing because my head was under the blanket with the rest of me.
"Wait... Did he just say chocolate?" I pushed the blanket down. Fixing the staticcling me hair had gotten from the blanket, I peered at the long sized candy bars.
"Only about a thousand times," Bree teased, which only lead to him getting flicked in the ear by me.
"Ow, Fleur, that hurt!" He said rubbing his ear.
"It was supposed to, dumbass," I said sticking my tongue out at him.
I peered at the can't hard as the servants drew nearer and nearer to us. The climbing up the steps to us had three candy bars. It wasn't hard figuring out which one was for Bree and which ones were for us.
The boys all got candy bars with a blue ribbon on them, while the girls all got ones with a yellow ribbon.
"The receiver of the golden ticket will wait after the rest to meet with me," The prince told everyone.
Alex handed me hers after she opened it, not surprised, not disappointed that she didn't get the ticket. I didn't bother to open mine, instead I continued to eat Alex's chocolate happily. And then Bree's who willing sacrificed his candy knowing better than to fight me for it.
Everybody chatted for five minutes before Prince Bryce spoke. "All of the candy bars have been handed out now, so who had the ticket? I promise I don't bite."
