I remember a time
when there was no hope
days grey as cold iron
and twice as brittle
a time
devoid of all
hope
like a desert in the moonlight
I was existing
for no reason but the sake
the sake of it
I lost all hope
every little bit
but then
I met a shining star
like a fireball you blazed into my life
my own wonderful premonition
you offered light
in a life with no sun
we talked
we laughed
we confessed
we lived
and it was like
I was coming alive
and a toneless grey world
exploded with colours
I smiled
for once, it was genuine
and not a mask for those who
know no better
and I was drawn to you
drawn to you like a moth
a moth who has known darkness for so long
the light is an incredible change
when I discovered

that you too were living a grey life
the first thing I wanted to do was bring you happiness
