"No, no, no. I'm busy today. Yeah, I'm just gonna go and pick up some groceries so I'll call you back later, Mom. Yup. Love you. Okay. Bye."
...
"Well, that wasn't a full lie", Jenna whispered to herself.
"I'm not gonna get groceries. I did already. I am actually busy. Just busy with doing nothing."
"Yeah. Sounds about right", she says proudly.
Jenna walks toward the kitchen, grabs a bag of chips, goes to the living room, and lies down on her old, brown couch. She turns on the TV and opens the bag of chips in her hand.
Jenna thinks to herself, "I can't believe I'm still single. I'm 32 years old already and I'm not getting younger. Before I know it, I'll be in a house with 20 cats. Wait, I don't like cats. Dogs. Yeah, dogs. Well, it's gonna be hard to take care of 20 dogs. You know what 20 plants. Plants, yeah. Easier to care of."
"No No No! What am I thinking?", she yells.
" Am I actually going to be single my whole life? That can't happen! Definitely not!"
What am I gonna do though? I have no idea what to do to get a guy. I've only had 5 boyfriends in my life and that was only during high school and my early years of college." She gets up and looks around.
"Where the heck is it?!", She panics.
"Okay, Okayyy. FOUND IT!" She picks up her phone, shuffles a few pages, and dials the phone.
"Hello? Yes. Yes, this is Jenna. No, I don't have an appointment. I need to know if a Peter Thomason is there. Yes. I'm a friend of his. I need to...uhh...inform him about his...um...mother. Yeah! His mother. Something happened. I need to talk to him. Thank you so much! Yes. Okay. One moment." She picks up her pen and starts to write on a crumpled up paper.
"One. Seven. Uh, come again? Oh sorry. Okay thank you, Miss. Have a nice day. Bye."
Jenna ends the call and slams her phone on the table. "I can't believe he still works there", she says as she slides into her couch. "Working there for about 7 years, huh? What a trooper", she laughs.
"Ah, I should call him." She picks up her phone again and dials. The phone rings. "Answer you asshole."
"Hello? Who's this?"
With surprise, "Y-Yeah, umm hello? Is this Peter?"
"Yes. Who is this?"
"Um...oh shit. It's Jenna! Jenna Writer. Your freaking friend for life!"
The phone call suddenly ends.
. . .
"That freaking bastard!" Jenna calls again in rage.
"Hello?"
"YOU F@$!ING ASSHOLE!!! WHY DID YOU HANG UP?! I'M TRYING TO BE POLITE HERE AND YOU HANG UP?! WHAT THE F--?"
"I'm busy okay? I can't chat right now."
"But I'm your friend?"
"Even if you are I can't neglect my job. I've already taken off 1 month of work and I just started again. I can't neglect work anymore. Please understand this, Jen-Jen."
Jenna's eyes sparkle. "Jen-Jen~?" She grins stupidly. "You haven't called me that in such a long time. I'm so happy right now. hehe. Okayy~ I'll call you laterrr~." She hangs up.
Her stupid grins lessens. "Ah, shit. I got sentimental. Well then, I'll call him later, I guess."

"Jen-Jen? Stop grinning."
"But whyyy? I love it when you call me that. hehe."
"J-Just stop. It's really creepy. Stop."
