When mother opened the door, two people; a man and a teen, were begging to be let in. Being a good person, Mother let them in. They looked very depressed and angry. The man introduced himself, "My name is Theodore, this is my son, Kalum." Kalum looked up and smiled, he looked about my age. Mother asks, "If you don't mind me asking, where is your wife?" Theodore looks down to his pocket and pulls out a picture of a woman. He shows us the picture. It's a beautiful picture of his wife. He explains how she sacrificed herself so they could run away. Kalum frowns like he is disappointed in his mother. I wonder if he is. The man stands up but sits back down and makes a noise that sounds like he is hurt. Mother grabs the bandages and bandages his leg. Kalum says, "I would like to apologize for my behavior, my mother was very wise. I did not understand why she sacrificed herself." I was amazed, he had a real German accent. He asked for some food and water. Charlotte and Joanna smiled at him and went to get the food and water. Mother asked me to grab some blankets. I walked back and grabbed the blankets. I saw something in the window, but when I looked back it was gone. Now I am nervous, what if it was a soldier? Could they know we are taking refugees? I need to tell mother. I walk in and hand the blankets to Kalum. He wraps himself in one and hands his father the other. I walked over to tell mother but, Joanna screams out in pain. I run over and her wound is greenish-red. Mother tells me to grab the rubbing alcohol, Vaseline, and some tissues. I go and grab them all, hand them to mother, and hug Joanna. Mother starts pouring the rubbing alcohol and Joanna has me in a death grip. I feel like a life-sized teddy bear. Mother puts the Vaseline on her leg and I start to choke. Joanna lets go of me and grabs her real teddy bear. Mother puts a fresh bandage on the wound and tells us to give her space. I took a walk outside, most of the men were smoking so I decided to jog past them to the park. It's peaceful there. I sit down and read the book I grabbed. Really. I grabbed a one of Mother's romance novels. I put it back inside my satchel, and grab my peanut butter sandwich. As I ate, two Nazi men started walking toward me. I gulped down that bite and slowly put my hands up, my face full of peanut butter. The man snarled, "You are a very stupid little girl." They knocked me out cold.
