498 days. That's how long Nova has been locked up. Just waiting until her few measly weeks were up and she was finally floated.

The girl didn't flinch when her prison door was opened and a tall guard stepped in. She just stared out of the window as the blue planet radiated light into her dingy cell.

"What is it today Comrade? Sponge bath? Or just a daily frisk?" Nova spoke with humour laced in her voice. Humour that had earned her a few sour visits from the guards.

"Prisoner 298 face the wall." An authoritative voice rang making Nova lean up on her small elbows.

"Cut the crap. Why don't you put down that little toy of yours and tell me if I'm being floated?" She stared at the gun expectantly and unafraid.

"Face the wall Rivers!" Huffing like it was a catastrophic task, Nova climbed out of her bed with a scowl and lack of respect.
"This better be good, I was comfortable."

A numbing pain ran through Novas arm as a titanium cuff was placed around her delicate wrist.

"Ow. Mother fu..."

"Follow me Rivers."

Novas eyes adjusted to the new light as she was escorted out of her cell and onto a scene she would rather not see.
Kids were being kicked to the floor and electrocuted for not complying. Nova was smarter than that. She let the guard escort her to and up some ladders where she was fastened in tight by a belt.

"Going to be a bumpy ride." The guard smirked as he injected a clear substance into the brunettes neck.
"Oh, now you have a sense of humour." Nova mocked before diving head first into darkness.

"Hey. Hey. Wake up. Hey." Novas eyes fluttered open at her shoulders being shaken and a tanned girl with perfect features whispering in her ear.

Nova took in her surroundings and the scared delinquents that litterd the space around her in wavering moments at a time.

"Where are we?"
"We're going to Earth." The girl said with mounds of excitement. "I'm Octavia by the way."
"Nova." She replied. It can't be. It's not inhabitable. What the hell are those idiots thinking? Bile rose up in the back of her throat as she barely adjusted to the news.

"So, earth huh?" The petite girl asked uncertainly. But before she could hear an answer a brown eyed, brown haired boy floated into her range of sight with a devilish smirk plastered onto his face.

"Long time no float Finn." Nova couldn't stop her smile reach from ear to ear.
"Hey baby doll. How's life?" The boy asked still levitating mid air.

"Swell, you know that seat belt they designed is a rather key aspect of staying alive."

"Come on Nova, you know I was never one for following rules." Finn winked which was returned with a soft kick from Nova, causing him to float away with a grin.

"Boyfriend?" Octavia asked.

"Finn? God no. Just close friends." She defended with a look of disgust at the thought.

Octavia was about to ask another question but was cut short by the shaking of the universe.

The girls clung onto each other for comfort, their breath mixing along with their fear.

Novas bones rattled around in her body. Her heart bounced around her rib cage and her brain trembled inside of her skull.

"It's just the parachutes. Just the parachutes. Just the parachutes." She whispered into Octavias' shoulder, trying to bring them both comfort.

Then everything stopped in one bone crushing stand still. The taste of metal filled Novas mouth as she bit into her tongue. They made it. No fiery explosion. Just a good old crash landing.

The two girls looked at each other with a smile before unbuckling their belts and making their way to the front of the ship with the other juveniles.

Nova pushed her way through the gathered crowd to the front. Ready and rearing to breathe her first breath of Earth Air.

"Stop! The air could be toxic!" A blonde yelled to a guard who had his hand placed on the leaver.
He turned revealing his freckle covered nose and dark eyes.

"If the airs toxic we're all dead anyway."
"Bellamy?" Octavia released Novas hand to embrace the guard.

The two exchanged a long, heart felt hug before finally being interrupted.

"Where's you wristband?" The blonde spoke up again.

"Do you mind? I haven't seen my brother in a year."
"No one has a brother." Yells of disbelief bounced around the room making Octavia seep out anger and lunge at the heckling delinquents.

"Now don't get me wrong, I love the interior of this space tin but I would much rather see what's on the outside." Nova spoke, changing the topic quickly.

Whoops of agreement sounded though the crowd as Nova spoke. The duo at the door smiled at each other.
"Let's give them something else to remember you by."
"Yeah, like what?"
"Like being the first person on the ground in 100 years."

Nova watched with trepidation as the hatch was blasted open and a wave of air, non-toxic air washed over her.
"We're back bitches!"
