What was happening? Why were we leaving? Where's dad? All these questions were racing through my mind as I packed my bags half asleep. Mom didn't clearly explain much to me and my sister or given any specifics on why were leaving...All she said was that it was complicated. "Where are we going Hayleigh,"whimpered Lily, my 10 year old sister. "I do not know, but I'm sure that were going to be fine. Mom will explain to us soon enough," I said with doubt in my words. We got our most valuable possessions considering we couldn't fit all of our stuff into the trunk of our car 2016 Ford Focus. My sister was reluctant giving up most of her Barbie dolls, but she gave in when I told her we would play monopoly tomorrow. After getting our stuff situated in the trunk and we got seated, we drove off leaving our house and wherever dad was behind. Will we see dad again? Surely we will! Will we? With all the confusion and frustration, I finally closed my eyes and drifted off into my dreams. I woke to my Lily's whining. Apparently, we have been driving overnight and we're still on the road. As a child, I never quite enjoyed road trips myself. Mom's eyes were puffed from what seemed to be from hours of crying. Something was wrong for sure, but what was it that kept the mood, so... Blue! After about an hour after I woke, mother pulled over to a gas station. The station seemed deserted unlike the others up in Houston. Mom parked the car by the pump and gestured for us to get out. My legs were as stiff as a board from staying in the car for so long, but it felt soothing to stretch. Lily seemed excited to be out of the car, but decided not to get on mother's nerves for she still seemed blue. We all together walked to the doors of what seemed not to be a gas station, but more of a gas station/diner. I walked into the diner eagerly, craving to sink my teeth into anything edible. I didn't realize how hungry I was until my nose took a swig of the juicy air that smelled of gravy. I gazed around the diner, taking in every little detail, every aspect of the place. The diner was roomie with booths hugging the wall, a buffet, salad bar, and an actual bar for adults (obviously). We approached the counter where a plump, red women stood behind giving us a disgusted look. "What do you want,"said the lady quite rudely. "How much is your buffet mam," my mom asked. "5 bucks a person!""Well, we will have 3 on the buffet please," mom said. After mom paid for our somewhat lunch....Wait what time was it? I felt my phone vibrate as if on cue! 2:15! This is somewhat lunch I guess I could say. We each grabbed our plates and headed for the buffet, but what to choose? There was a whole variety of foods, but what grabbed my attention was the boy across from me. He had medium-cut curly hair with glasses like Harry Potter and green, soft eyes that almost made me melt on the spot. His lips could've made any girl collapse on spot on how smooth and lovely they were. I became so distraught with his looks, that he was staring awkwardly at me trying to get my attention. "Hi, uh sorry about that...I was uhhh staring at that painting behind you. uhhh isn't it nice,"I said panicking under his presence. Nice move hayleigh! A painting?! Really? "Ok, that is cool I guess...," He said in an awkward manner. My face turned so red, I had to turn around and cover my face before I humiliated myself in front of this guy. I laid food on my plate A.S.A.P. so I could get away from him before I embarrass myself again. I made my way to where mom and Lily were sitting chowing down on their food. I sat beside Lily and ate rather quietly, but mom HAD to speak at the worst time possible..."So! Who was that boy your were talking to over there," she teased. "I don't know," I said sternly. "Oh really, because it looked like you were blushing up a storm," she said backfiring. "Let's just drop the conversation for right now," I said finally. We finished our lunch quite fast and we're back on the road again sadly. Although it seemed like forever, we finally reached our destination."Okay guys, welcome to Burkeville."
