Diary
It's junior year. My second year at Conord Prep. Why'd the summer have to go so fast? The ferris wheels, the roller coasters, the all nighters. I never got to do any of that. It would've been so much fun. Why did it have come to an end?
"Jessica!" my mom called from the front door making me jump up from my criss cross position on my bed, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Coming!" I shout back.
I close my diary and slide it into my suitcase, zipping it up. I let out a breath and look around my room, checking if im forgetting anything. My eyes stop on the photo on the dresser. It's of my dad and I. I smile to myself remembering how much fun we used to have. It's as if he's no longer around.
"Jessica!" I flinch once again startled by my mother's voice.
I snatch the photograph of him and I then grab my phone off the bed and run down the stairs dragging my suitcase behind me.
"Sorry, was just gathering the rest of my things."
"Geez, its like you wanna be late" she says with a laugh.
She grabs her keys and motions with her hands for me to get out the door. "C'mon the rest of your stuff are in the car".
We rush out the door and down to the gate where the cars are parked. My mom unlocks the car hopping in the drivers seat, popping the trunk open for me to throw my suitcase in. I shut the trunk and run over to the keypad on the side of the gate putting in the lock number so it opens up.
I jog back over to the car and hop in the passengers seat already flushed from all this running around. I click on my seat belt and look over to my mom who's backing the car up out of the driveway. As soon as she's on the road she takes off.
"Ready for this school year?" she asks.
"Mom it's the same thing every year, nothing is gonna change" I say with a laugh.
