His light and dainty footsteps were all that was heard over the sounds of nature. Birds cried over head, a stream trickled in the distance, and the treetops rustled with squirrels as they started coming out of their winter habitats. It was springtime, a time that came too late for everyone in the surrounding areas. A long, harsh winter had just finally settled, and Pit was more than happy to feel the warm breeze on his skin that he was so used to be prickled with goosebumps.
Winters usually weren't hard for him; in the heavens of his home the sun always beat down on the streets of Skyworld. Ever since he moved closer to the ground to partake in the Super Smash Brothers team and the annual tournaments two years ago, he's always been cold. His first snow was both a blessing and a curse to him.
Today, following the path of the local park, he marveled at how the sun reflected off of the rocks and trees and cast beautiful shadows. Here in the clusters of trees he was shaded, but still not immune to the warm rays that engulfed him. The path was right on the edge of the trees, and looking past them to his left Pit could see a large, gorgeous field. He was surprised he hadn't seen the field before; it would be a great place to practice his flying. He made a mental note to come back to this part of the woods as soon as possible.
Link had been the one who told him to come here. After an entire week of visiting his home and goddess, the angel had gotten a phone call and was glad to hear his boyfriend's voice on the other side.
"As soon as you get home," He had known that Pit was due back that day, "follow the path in the park woods. You know, the one that we always wanted to walk but never found the time to? Trust me. It's important"
Pit was confused, but followed Link's instructions. An eerie feeling in his stomach kept washing over him. Now that Pit thought about it, he hadn't seen anyone when he got back home. Palutena had been in a rush for him to leave too, saying she had to prepare herself for something that she wouldn't tell him.
The angel was worried that he was lost, though the path just continued straight. He was alright with this though, for he had time to absorb and enjoy his surroundings. It wouldn't be a shock for anyone if Pit got lost along the way; he was quite literally a featherhead.
There was so much to get lost in; Pit had rarely ever experienced something like this before. His residence was in a much more urban part of the city, and while he had been to the park many times he never found himself in the woods. In Skyworld they didn't even have any trees; for they all lived in the clouds. All the green in the angel's vision almost overwhelmed him; let alone the sounds, the scents, the rose petals laid at his feet...
Wait,
Rose petals?
They felt velvety in his hand as he picked one up, turning the scarlet object over in his fingers and rubbing it softly. Looking down, the pink and red flowers were forming a trail that led to the left of a fork in the path. Pit chuckled, knowing that Link was behind this, but why had he gone through this trouble?
Porcelain fingers found themselves in sweatshirt pockets as Converse sneakers were careful to not squish any petal beneath their feet. Blue jeans swished as he walked, and the knotting in Pit's stomach continued. He was giddy; and was desperate to find out what in the world's name his boyfriend was thinking.
Pit soon found himself near an opening in the trees, where the petals were scattered beneath some blue ribbons that were hung on the branches to form a curtain. Now he was really confused, and was careful to not rip any of the streamers as he pushed them aside to get through.
A smile found its way onto the angel's face as he looked in front of him. The trees had subsided, but the petals and streamers formed a path through the grass in the field before making it's way to a wonderland of vegetation. Bushes surrounded a small pond, and more trees sprung up around those. Birds were residing in both the trees and a waterfall birdbath that was built into the pond. The whole scene was decorated in green and blue streamers, letting Pit know that this was in fact the place he was supposed to go; unless he walked in on someone else's dream.
