Carlie and Nick continued to talk developing their friendship. Tour was over and the guys went their separate ways so she and Nick had more time to get to know each other. They wanted to plan a trip to see each other but they couldn't decide who should go to whom. Nick decided to fly to Chicago to see her because he had a studio session and that made it convenient.
The day came for Nick's visit and Carlie wasn't nervous. She pulled in front of the hotel he was staying at and smiled when she saw him standing out front. He walked over and got in. "Hey."
"Hey. How was your flight?"
"Not too bad. So what do you wanna do?"
"I know you wanted to get a bite, so Panda or Chipotle?"
He looked at her and laughed. "I know you don't like Chipotle."
"Yeah but you do. I can give it another try."
"Nah Panda's good."
After pulling into a space they got out and walked inside. They ordered then sat to wait for their food. After getting their food they sat and chatted a bit.
They finished eating and left the restaurant. After getting in the car Carlie asked, "So what are you working on? Can you tell me or is it top secret?"
He laughed. "It's a song I've been working on for awhile. I got stuck with where I wanted it to go but I have some ideas now."
"Yes I know how frustrating that can be."
Nick's phone rang and Carlie became lost in thought as she drove. He soon ended the call. "I gotta go in to work on some changes. I know we were gonna hang out but they can have me in all day. When I'm done we can do something if you want."
Carlie smiled. "That sounds fine."
"Good. Meet me back here at ten?"
"Yes."
Carlie had finished reading her book when her phone rang. Nick had pushed the time back an hour. She decided to get ready and go wait for him. She parked in the parking garage near his hotel and waited for him in the lobby. He walked over to her. "Hey. You ok?"
"Hi. I'm kinda nervous for some reason."
They walked out and headed down the brightly lit street. "It's so pretty. I love being downtown at night."
"Usually the crowds bother me, but not tonight."
Nick grabbed her hand. She smiled. "Are you happy with how the session went?"
"It was ok but could've been better. He wanted me to stay but I wanted to spend time with you. I'm gonna go back tomorrow. Want to get coffee or something?"
"Ok." she laughed and Nick looked at her. "What?"
"I was gonna ask if you wanted to do an early breakfast but know you kinda like to sleep in."
"Well if it's with you I'll make an exception." they laughed and continued to walk. They saw horse drawn carriages, couples, and street musicians. She took in the sights of her city conscious of Nick's hand in hers.
