I grinned eagerly as I threw myself on the ground the same time as my brother, he had just come back from his second year of college for Christmas. I pushed him aside and grabbed the perfectly, okay that's a lie, awfully wrapped huge box as I began tearing it apart. He groaned but slowly helped.
My mother pursed her lips, attempting to hide her huge grin. Eight years ago when I was in 6th grade my father left us. We were on our own since. We're not rich but we're making our way enough. My brother, Max, had finally opened the box fully and pulled out the "final family gift" we gasped the same time.
"Mom..how did you afford this?" I asked taking short, excited breaths as I gazed at the new laptop that hid in the box.
"I've been saving up" her soft gentle voice told me. I looked at my brother and he shrugged. I didn't know what to do, this was nothing I have ever known.
"Sophie?" Max asked placing a hand on my shoulder. I had wanted a computer forever, and even if it was a  family one. I felt a test come loose as I stood up and ran towards my mother hugging her wildly. I began weeping as I snuggled my fave into her shoulders. I couldn't believe this..

"How do I even use this?" I asked playing around with the settings.  Max laughed.
"Call a worker or some shit" he said walking away.
"Max!" I whined. It was my last year of high school and I still didn't know how the hell to use a computer. I decided to call the computer worker dude? But then I realized it was 10pm on Christmas night. I bite my lip but dialed anyway.
It rung once.
Twice
Three times.
Four times
"Hello?"
"Hi, my name is Sophie Brown. I uh- got a computer for Christmas..with your company and I don't know how to use this and-"
I was broken off by a laugh from the other end of the call.
"Listen, kid, it's Christmas. I'm still in college and I don't know what kind of computer issues your having but I'm about to close up so.."
"Wait." I groaned "first of all I'm.not a child, I'm actually about a senior in high school. And could you at least leave me your email?" I whined. I heard a sigh from the other end of the call. As he spoke his email out to men I rapidly wrote in down digging my pen into the paper.
"Thank you!" I smiled and heard him end the call on the other end.
What even was his name?
I grinned and stuck the pen in my mouth, chewing on it as thoughts spun through my head. Suddenly I felt a snap and could immediately taste pen blood all over my mouth. I screamed and jumped up running towards the sink, slipping and falling in zuzu's pee mess on the ground and that's when I began crying..this was my life.
