I have been waiting my whole life for this. It's my birthday and in turning 15. Other then the best day of my life it the day where other 15 year olds go to the city. The city is a place for us to learn away from our parents and get the perfect dream job from the council. There the ones that control our future's. "Are you ready yet?" Asked my mom
"Yeah! Just fixing my hair!" I yelled back. 'Okay just relax Red your gonna be fine' I thought as I pulled my hair back to a ponytail.'Today the day you enter the city!'
"Hurry up!! I gotta use the bathroom!" My sister, Kate, yelled. "Hold up! Almost done!" I quickly put gel over any stray hair. "MOM!! RUBY WONT GET OUT!" She yelled. I swung the door open and pushed her in. "What's happening up there!?" Mom yelled. "Nothing!" I quickly ran down to the kitchen to where my mother was at. "Aww....there's my baby!" She cooed at me. "Mooom! Stop I'm not three anymore!" I pouted. "Not in my eyes you aren't."she said pulling me into a hug."I gonna miss you so much." She whispered to me. "Me too." I hugged back. 'Your gonna start crying red if you continue' I sniffed." Umm....mom. Something's burning." "OH NO!!My tamales!" I saw as she hurried over to put out the fire pot of tamales. And all I could was stand there and laugh I tries almost everything to put it out. 'Nice work red your the worst daughter every!' 'Heh ..well it's fun while it lasted'
Breakfast was very quiet as we just poked the burnt breakfast. And started complaining about the burnt tamales. "Mom...are you sure we can eat this?" Kate complained. "Yes now stop poking it and eat it you gotta go to school." "Awww..but it's black." "Just eat it kate... It can't be that bad." I said as I take a bite out of mine. 'No red what are you doing put that down?'
'Shut up! I know what im doing'
'No you don't red that thing is the charcoal!' I paused for a bit and looked at it. 'Sorry... for Kate.'
I stuck the piece in and almost immediately threw it up again.
'Why you do this to me!!?'
I held it back. "Se-e its good." I gave a thumbs up but she didn't believe it. "I'm not stupid ruby." She started laughing. I looked at mom and she started laughing to. "What's so funny!?" I asked. No one said nothing for a minute and I started to wonder what made them laugh so much. Then it hit me like a truck. I lifted my fork to see my reflexion. My hair had poofed out and it looked like a big lions mane. And it looked like I had black lip stick on me. I looked at myself and started laughing too. Although it was stupid I did look funny. Once we had calm down. I went to wash my self up again and this time no gel. I looked up again I saw my watch. 7:40
'Well it was fun while it lasted.' I sigh
'Its time to meet the world'
