Today was the day that had finally arose where Chase was now eligible for his space flight license. He had been waiting in line at the S.F.C. for what seemed like hours now. Chase couldn't wait til he was at the front of the line, grabbing his license in victory. At the moment, he was five people away from the front desk. He looked around as he was standing alone around people his age that were waiting for a space craft license as well. But chase didn't want to use his license to go visit his grandma on the other side of the planet like the others, he wanted to explore new planets in the galaxy. He wanted the unknown portion of the universe, to be known.

Chase was lost in thought, thinking about his license and the space ship he could possibly get. When he was shoved from behind he looked back to see a man his age. "Get moving runner!" The man from behind him said in a taunting voice. As soon as chase heard the nick name "runner" he knew exactly who it was. It was Nate, the big bully in high school. He always despised Nate in all ways shapes and forms, so he decided to ignore him. In planet Gretoth (Gree-Taw-Th), you graduated when you got your space ship license. Your main point of going to school, is for common knowledge and to learn the curriculum of space ship flight. But there are always those kids that will learn more for more knowledge.

Now being one person away from getting his license, Chase was getting excited. Yet, Chase was nervous at the same time. Even though he had been studying for 2 years, he was scared. There was still a slim chance he could pass though. But he didn't want to think about that now did he?

The last person before Chase had just now finished, forcing him to step up. The person at the front desk handed him the paper, where he had had his all in all score. Cases heart almost skipped the beat as he peered over at the paper, only to see that he had failed the test. Chase was disappointed as he looked over at the paper, he had the required age? He had studied for years? Most people didn't pass at the age of 15 anyways but, he thought he had it.

He walked away from the desk with his paper, disappointed at what he saw on the paper. "Why?" Chase asked himself in a depressed voice as he mumbled to himself. Tears almost filled his eyes, but he would not let himself cry. He walked humbly through the rain and past the stop signs. He was now only one block away from home. Yet chase could not hold it in anymore. He broke down crying, flying was his dream, and he wanted to achieve that dream. Now he was not so sure if he would ever achieve that dream.

When Chase got to his house, he heard a familiar voice come from his kitchen. "Hey sweety, how was the test?" She asked as he could smell the smell of his moms homemade spaghetti.

Without answering, chase threw his paper on the floor and ran up to his room. His mother jumped in surprise as his door slammed shut. When he got in his room he immediately pounced into his bed.

Chase covered himself in his covers and sobbed, not wanting to communicate with anything in the world at the moment. He did not know how long he cried as his mother walked into his room, turning on the light had Chase refused to turn on before. His mother sat on the edge of his bed as Chase began to hatch from his blankets, face soaked in tears.

"We all make mistakes..." His mother said in a soft voice as she put her soft hand on his shoulder. She tried to make him feel better all the time.

"I know..." He replied with a sob. "I just-  I just-" He could not continue before he broke into another emotional dismay.

He was wrapped into his mothers arms like a baby, crying as he almost knew for certain that his dream that he had always had, was gone. "You should take this as a learning experience..." His mother continued as he patted his back, letting him get the tears out.

Chase does not know why, but those exact words, stuck with him. But why?

Authors Note:

Hey guys! This is the first ever book I have ever made. I hope you like it. If this gets at least 75 views and lets say... any amount of votes? I will create chapter 1, which will be set 6 years after the prologue. (Also, yes, my chapters will be decently long yet pretty short...)

But like I have said and if you liked it, vote? follow? because I will try to keep my pace with making these chapters.

P.S: As this gets more views, I will adapt to how many views it get to make the next chapter (For now it will stay 75, but chapter 2 will adapt to how many this got)
