Hand-in-hand,
We walked the lonely streets,
When no one else,
Could see us.
Sometimes cold,
But never alone.
We always had each other.
Hand-in-hand,
We stared out to sea.
It beckoned us closer,
With rhythmic glistening waves,
And we followed,
But never dared to go farther,
Than each other's arms.
Hand-in-hand,
Still,
We wander the lonely earth.
The paths of life not taken,
Lie before us.
We disregard those,
That would lead us away from each other.
Hand-in-hand,
Never broken,
Never ending,
Our lonely travel leads us back,
To the lonely streets,
The dark streets,
When all we had was each other.
