First Day

"Lilly, were gonna be late for school you need to hurry!" I run in the house to grab my phone and get in the car "shes such a slow poke", I say to my mom we both laugh a little. "I'm here, i'm ready lets go" Lilly says as she gets in the car clearly out of breath. We moved to a new school because my family is in the military I've known Lilly since I was like five, were both seniors now, I turn eighteen in a couple of months and then i'm pretty much a free bird. I get nervous thinking what its like out in the real world without my parents getting me out of trouble but my mom and dad are pretty much always at work and i'm usually alone at home but that's different when you have your own place. We Just moved to California from Hawaii we were stationed there for a couple of years but we are getting cut some slack because and our family has been moved around so often luckily this might be the last time we move, well out of state anyways my mom really likes it out here and so do I.

When we arrive to school me and Lilly both look at each other and just take a deep breath, "Bye mom see you later" I say to my mom when we get out of the car. Me and Lilly walk into the school we only have two classes together, thank god one of them is first period. As we walk to class, we are the first ones there "Hello ladies you are some new faces around here, my name is Mr. Irwin welcome to Oak Hills High School home of the Bulldogs!" he says trying to be enthusiastic. " Hi i'm Lilly and this is my best friend Allison, we just moved here from Hawaii" Lilly says, when i'm nervous I don't like to talk a lot I just slightly smile at him. "Hawaii!, why did you move to such a mess like this." Mr. Irwin says lightly laughing he shows us our seats right before the bell rings and all the kids rush into class. The rest of the day went pretty smoothly, when I got in the car my mom had a surprise for Lilly and I when I walked into the door I saw my dad standing there with an envelope, he handed it to me "We know things are about to get complicated" he said looking down at the floor, "what do you mean dad?" he looked up at me and gently placed his has beneath my chin holding back tears, "there deploying me and your mother to Afghanistan for 6 months they need me and your mother's help out there because the base was bombed and they need all the hands they can get" he said while a tear slowly falls down his face. I opened it and there were two front row tickets to the Shawn Mendes concert, I ran up and hugged him through tears he told me that they were leaving the next day. I looked at him in anger "why do you always do this to us you're going to end up getting killed!" I say practically screaming before I ran up stairs lilly chased me, we both sat down on my bed Lilly looked at me "listen Alls you know how much I miss my parents, you need to give all your parents all the love you can before they leave" Lilly says to me " i'm so sorry... I-I forgot" I say to her I totally forgot her parents died I was just so upset Her parents died a little over three years ago in a car accident I still remember that day...It was so weird how such a perfect day could be ruined so easily we we were at the beach which was practically our backyard and her parents ran out and told Lilly what had happend she was mute for months all she could do is cry I remember hearing her cry at night all the pain she just kept inside knowing she would never see them again. I look over and hug her, "we should go down stairs" Lilly says. I run downstairs and jump on my dad hugging him "i'm sorry dad" I whisper to him. He looks at me and says your tickets is for Friday night I reserved the best hotel room I heard that Shawn kid staying there, when I looked at lilly both of our eyes widend we both squealed and jumped on top of each other and fell on the floor my mom looks at us and smiles signaling us to go up stairs. I knew that this would be the longest four days of my life.
