It was a windy rainy night, it sounded so relaxing and calming the nice cold breeze going through the window and hitting me felt so good, I just want to stay in and drink my chelas and watch my Xolos play because they are my favorite soccer team and I never have time to sit in and watch but I have to go to work in a little bit but I was hoping that they wouldn't call me tonight and call me tomorrow night. Soon enough when it hit 11p.m my phone rang, I guess my next client really want their little mocoso out of Mexico and into the U.S. but why leave Mexico when it's like the best country ever but whatever it's their problem not mine I just want to get paid, after a few minutes I picked up the phone and heard the man's voice all shaky and anxious but trying to sound so serious.
"Yo tengo el dinero, cuando tu vas a traer a mis hijos"
He wanted to sound all scary and whatever, saying that, he has the money and when I should bring his kids like if that's going to scare me.
"Mira compa, no me asustes, you will have your kids once you transfer the money, so don't try to sound all scary and trying to intimidate me because I can make their trip a living hell"
He was breathing louder and faster and I got to admit it annoyed the hell out of me and he didn't speak for a minute but I heard him talking to someone else and right before I was about to hang up he spoke.
"Okay I'm sorry I'll transfer the money right now, please don't hurt them they are all I got, please!"
His English sounded funny to me and I tried my best not to laugh, it did somehow got better from the last time I talked to him so I'll give him props. A few moments later my phone rang and it said that 20 thousand dollars had been transferred into my account.
"Thank you, you will see your kids in a month"
Right when he was going to say something I hanged up on him and smash the phone so he won't be able to contact me, I know where I'm going to drop them off so it's whatever and I have backup phones anyway. After a few minutes, I got up from the couch and walked to the kitchen and I chugged the beer after that I started to feel a little buzz, it was my fifth one. I was stumbling a little towards the restroom I notice that I smell like if I was working underground this whole day but then again I did, I think I had to many beers, oh well I think I'll sober up when I take a shower. After what felt like an hour in the shower I got out and clean myself up and comb my short hair like a comb over but a little messy.
I brushed my teeth as usual but extra just in case they can smell the alcohol, that would be the third strike and I would be transferred in the building which is boring it doesn't have enough action as being outside. I went into my medium size room and put on my green pants and my green shirt and tucked it in since its policy then my black shoes and my belt that had the necessary items to take down someone, after I put on the hat. Then I got my badge and clean in and it said Border Patrol and my name under it 'Alex'. I know it's ironic that I work for border patrol but also smuggle people in the U.S. I mean its way easier because I know where there is less patrol and their blind spots. I get paid a lot more for doing both jobs but I have to live in this trash so I won't look suspicious, it would be weird to have a job with a low salary and living in a big house. Then again I do have like 4 house around the U.S and in Mexico obviously listed with a fake name and number. Soon enough my boss calls and I groan after seeing his name, he's so annoying and strict. I picked up the phone.
"One of our officers called in sick so instead of leaving at 6am you are going to have to stay until 8am, okay?"
"What! No I can't, there isn't anybody that can cover their shifts"
"Hay calm down, I might be your dad but I'm also your boss, you need to work more so you are going to take his shift and that's final, now hurry up because you are going to be late."
