Chapter 1: We are Number ONE

During PE, I sat at the back of the gym and scrolled through my photo gallery on my phone. Looking at all my photos, I came across a photo of The Lenny Face, the meme.

I've been told I have an obsession with Memes. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed. I just really like the Lenny Face Meme. It's not weird. I just wish some people would be able to understand.

Well, at least I got 4 friends like me.

But suddenly, the picture faded away as my phone randomly began to glow. It unnaturally grew brighter and brighter. Without the time to react, the light engulfed me, bringing me to an unknown space.

I was Surrounded by stars, almost like a galaxy. The purple atmosphere, things seemed to be moving, but it was like I was stuck inside a never ending box. Analyzing the space, I spotted something odd, yet so familiar. Letting my eyes adjust, I was oddly surprised to see what laid right in front of me. It was a strange white Orb.

MEL. I AM THE SPIRIT OF THE MEMES.

I turned to see where the voice was coming from. "How do you-?"

I KNOW MANY THINGS. YOU WILL PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN A QUEST. TO AID YOU, I WILL GRANT YOU MY POWERS. BUT YOU WILL NOT BE ALONE. FOR THERE ARE 9 OTHERS LIKE YOU. 4 OF THEM YOU ALREADY KNOW.

It was the Orb

"Wait, I don't have a say in th-?"

ARE YOU READY TO ENDURE THE POWER OF YOUR HIDDEN MEME?

"What the heck, I don't understand what's g-!"

But before I could finish, the Orb suddenly shot out a light, similar to the one from my phone, but brighter, towards me. I had no time to react and was still confused. I flinched as it  reached me.

Huh? That didn't hurt...

I closed my eyes from the encounter, but nothing seemed to happen. I opened them and saw I was back behind the gym. "What the heck" I murmured.

"Hey Mel, nobody said you can slack off back here! If you do this again, I'll deduct points from your daily grade!"

The PE teacher dragged me back into the gym, but I didn't care.

What was that...? I thought as I made my way to the gym.
