I woke up to the sound of arguing, like I had done for the last 20 years of my life. But instead of it being my parents it was my neighbors. I could just never get away from others people problems I guess.
Making unnecessary noises as I stretched hearing all my joints and back crack as I did so. I got up of my bed even though I just wanted to melt into it and sleep for days. I walked across my tiny little studio apartment, more like took a few steps into my bathroom. I immediately took care of my business, brushed my teeth then peeled of my oversized t-shirt and hoped into a burning hot shower to wake me up.
After finishing up and drying off I slipped on black lace panties and a matching bra. I sat on my hardwood floor and quickly did my makeup. Adding some mascara and my favorite shade of lipstick. Pomegranate seeds number 8. I put on a tight black dress that had a gold zipper that run up my spine and high neckline. It was still classy as well as sexy. I threw on a pair of black shiny pumps.
I took one last look in the mirror. I looked at the woman staring back at me. The nice natural olive Greek tan skin, long legs, the dress hugging my curves even my tummy that i didn't mind anymore. My greener than grass eyes staring back at me.
Then I looked at my My long silver hair wavy hair that kissed my waist. I didn't understand why my hair was like this but I just left it alone. The gods gave it to me so why mess with it.
Taking a deep breath. "Let's get this day over with."
I grabbed my keys, phone and purse. Checking my planner before I walked out and locked up. I immediately cruse under my breath and walk back into to give a fast thanks to the gods then leave.
I walked the 6 flights down my apartment building to the street. It was still early. The sky a pink, purple and blue hue. It was about 5am, way to early for anyone to be up in my book. I put my head phones in listening to some loud music as I walked towards the metro satiation.
I lived in Chinatown DC or gallery place if you looked on the metro map. I grew up all over the DMV but I loved DC plus I found a good job as an assistant to a top lawyer right next to capital hill.
I stood on the escalator that lead deep below this historic city for what seemed hours. If I didn't have heels I'd run down these steps scaring tourist. Which I always find funny.
I finally made it to the bottom when I felt the eyes of someone staring me down. I was use to it with hair like mine but this felt different. It felt like I needed to look.
I continued to the platform where I stood away from the train not wanting who ever was staring at me to push me.
I know I seem paranoid but it just felt off. After I minute I sighed and looked in the direction the eyes at were burning holes in me came from.
Wow. It was three women and two of which had their eyes closed. They seemed old but wise. One was tall and had grey hair she seemed as if the life had been taken from her. She wore all black and was holding a sliver piece of string. The other was shorter, she looked happy and was humming to herself hold some scissors. I finally noticed the on looking right at me she had one eye, hold a gold string that faded into black. She looked like she wanted to speak to me. But she turned away to the other women speaking to them.
I immediately looked away right on time my train came and I got on.
I got off after a few stops and made my way to work. I stopped by my favorite cafe.
"Hey Brooklyn !!" I yelled over the crowd. He was gayer than a 3 dollar bill and I loved him more than anyone. Totally my best friend. He waved me up. I came the employee entrance only area. He smiled big at me.
"Good morning sunshine! You look hot as hell. Trying to look good for the boss man?" He said all cheery I rolled my eyes. I hate mornings. He handed me my large iced coffee with an extra shot and double chocolate muffin.
"Oh fuck off" I growled at him.
"Hey hey be nice. I have the best news. See me for lunch right?" He gave me a warning look.
"Nah I'm gonna hang out with my new best friend his name is Jarred and his taking me to a drag show" I smiled.
"That bitch!" Brooklyn put his hands on his hips, which meant I was about to get bitched at and I laughed. "Of course I'll see you for lunch like I do everyday. And you so have to stop giving my free breakfast I bet your boss is pissed" I watched a blush creep up on his face.
"He won't mind his boyfriend helping the out his best friend" I squealed and jumped up and down. "Holy shit! Your lying! I'm so happy for you hun!" I have him a big hug after. But I said my goodbyes knowing I was going to be late to work if I didn't leave soon but promising him I'd meet him for lunch.
