I couldn’t stop shaking. “Hey Camden, Let’s get some clothes on and go walk Simpkin.” I said. I stood up and slipped some underwear and pants and a new tank top on. I ran down the stairs with Camden trailing behind me. I grabbed Simpkin’s leash and attached it to his collar. “You ready Camden?” I asked.
“Yeah, are we going far?” He asked. “We are walking around the block to the park.” I said. He nodded and we were out the door. Simpkin hopped ahead and I wanted to dance. I am so happy. I looked at Camden and he laughed. “What? Am I funny?” I asked with a smile. “Yeah, come here.” He said, grabbing my hand. He is holding my hand…my, Laydon Speller’s hand, in public. I giggled. I probably looked weird when I laughed because he gave me a funny look.
We got to the park and Simpkin put his little rouse on the tree. I laughed because he looked like he was flirting with the tree when he was only going to piss on it. “Hey after we walk Simpkin, we can go down the street to that new ice cream shop.” Camden said. “Okay, but I forgot my wallet at home.” I said. “You honestly think I would let you pay for yourself.” He smirked at me. I looked at him and laughed. “I am independent.” I said sticking my tongue out at him.
Simpkin finished his business and we walked down to the ice cream shop. “I will go in, what kind do you want?” He said. “Get me mint chocolate chip please.” I said. I love minty anything for some weird reason. I wonder what a minty bath would be like. I sat on the bench near the door while Camden went in. I am so going to the store later to get some mint bath stuff. Camden came out and plopped out next to me. “I think that I am going to run to the store later.” I told him. “For what?” he asked handing me my ice cream, and licking his.
“I need more new bath stuff.” I said with a laugh. I think I will run to the mall and shop around, I told myself. We both stood up and started to walk home. He finished his ice cream before me, but I followed after quickly. When we got home I threw my trash away and hung up Simpkin’s collar. We sat on the couch with Camden till nine. When I finally saw the time, I decided I had to put my shopping trip off until after school tomorrow. Camden left at ten and I got in bed around eleven, after changing my sheets (cough cough) and doing my nightly routine. I fell asleep with Camden on my mind. I saw him in my dreams.
I woke up at 5:45 and got up to straighten my hair. I was ready by 6:10. I could get to school at 6:50 and practice till 7:45. I heard someone moving around downstairs. I freaked out inside and ran and got my baseball bat. I started sneaking down the steps. I have never had a robber before. Before I could finish my next thought I tripped down the stairs with a few loud thuds. I landed at the feet of my culprit.
I looked up to find a Camden who had about crapped on himself and my parents in the doorway of the garage. Okay, someone please tell me why Camden was in my house, and my parents were TOGETHER in the doorway of the garage. I probably looked like a fish lying on the floor with wide eyes. Mom was staring with wide eyes in disgust and dad was shaking his head. Camden gave me a nervous grin.
We all wound up at the table and I finally found out why Mom and Dad were disgusted. Camden had laid flower petals in the pattern to spell I love you Laydon across the table. He had made breakfast and everything. I thought it was so cute. Mom and Dad found it disgusting. “Who the hell is he?” my dad asked in an angry tone. “Camden??” I said.
“Who is he? I don’t like finding naked teenage boys in my kitchen!” Mom asked. I looked at Camden. He looked at me. He mouthed, tried to make a breakfast surprise. I noticed he only had jeans on, no shirt. I had never thought of coming out. Camden mouth, every step of the way, I think it was. “He is my boyfriend.” I said. My dad turned a sick green and mom turned an angry red. “You’re what?!” She screamed. “Boyfriend, mom, want me to spell it?” I said in an angry tone. “I am your moth-” I cut her off. “Oh you want to use the ‘I am your mother’ line? No, you were never here. You’re not my mom, you’re a distant relative. You want to come care now? Well guess what, too late.” I finished. Camden and mom had the same expression. It was like there heads were replaced with doughnuts. My dad went from green to red quickly. “Get out, get out now you stupid faggot, don’t you EVER talk to my wife like that.” He said. I felt my eyes sting. Faggot, faggot, faggot, faggot, I think I am going to drown in an ocean of that word.
