Alone Together

The Accident

Riley Carter, Logan Oswald, Mrs. Carter and Mr. Carter were in the SUV. Mr. Carter was driving. They were going to Riley's cabin in Minnesota. Driving in the middle of a blizzard. Visibility was about 2 feet. The car was freezing so Logan had draped a blanket over her and Riley's laps. What the parents didn't know was that under the blankets Logan and Riley were holding hands.

Riley and Logan definitely were not sisters. That would just be weird. No. They were in love with each other. They were keeping their relationship secret so that they could spent more time together. Riley's parents would disown her if they found out. Logan was a foster child in between homes so nobody really cared.

All of a sudden the SUV swerved. The girls were jerked around. Mr Carter was swearing. He lost control of the car. It hit a snowbank and flipped. It rolled a few times and hit a giant tree. They were upside down. Riley was hurt. Her parents looked unconscious. Logan crawled out the shattered window and her sides were cut deeply by the broken glass. Riley followed weakly. Once they were both out they stared at the car for a minute in aw. Both in shock. Riley walked forward to her mom's window and a gruesome sight met her eyes.

Her mom's neck had nearly been split in two. Blood was flowing out of her. Clearly dead. Her dad was half out of his seat and through the windshield. The car had crushed him.

Riley stepped back quickly, tears pouring down her cheeks. Logan wrapped her arms around her. They sunk to the ground in a pile of tears. Tracy tried to find her phone but it was in the car still. Logan dug hers out of her pocket and dialed 911.

They could hear sirens in the distance. But above that they could hear cracking like fire...

Logan grabbed Riley by the waist and pulled her away from the SUV as it was suddenly engulfed in flames.
