Chapter 1

I shouldn't have even agreed to this. This is so stupid. My friends Conner, Kate, Chase, and Miranda are waiting for me to walk inside the door. I have to go inside this abandoned house since I lost a stupid bet. I turned around and looked at all of them. They all crossed their arms. " Really guys?" I said. " Go inside, we'll come back in an hour, that was the deal." Kate said. " What are you guys going to do?" I asked. " In the meantime we're going to go back to my house and hang out and when it's time, we'll come back and get you." She said. " You promise you'll come back?" I crossed my arms. " Melanie, we are your best friends would we do you like that?" She asked. I looked at Chase and narrowed my head. " Hey! Not something like this." He smirked. I rolled my eyes playfully. " Okay we're going to leave now, bye Melanie." Kate said and they all walked down the steps, got in the car and drove off. Well, here goes nothing. I have my flashlight, my blanket, a pillow, a snack and my phone because I know I'm going to be bored and who knows when they'll be back. They're a bunch of pranksters. Here it goes. I turned the nob and the door creaked. It's worst because it's nighttime and I hate the dark too. I walked inside and closed the door. It's really ran down. Of course there us furniture and stuff but it's all burnt because there was a fire here. The ceilings were falling in, the walls were black from the fire, there were pieces of wood everywhere and cobwebs. The place was huge though, I bet it was nice before all of this happened. I walked around slowly my hand shaking making my flashlight shake. I found a room that wasn't so ran down as the others I shrugged. I laid my blanket and pillow down. I sat down down and leaned on the wall and sighed. I set my timer for an hour. I don't know why I just wanted to though. I sat my flashlight beside me and got on my phone. I was scrolling through Instagram when I heard a loud banging noise coming from upstairs. I jumped and dropped my phone. I sighed and picked up my phone. It was nothing, it was nothing I told myself. Probably just something falling. Yeah, something fell. I looked around the room. Man this place is creepy. I looked at the closet, the door is open and I don't
like it at all, I feel like somebody is looking at me. In fact I think there IS someone looking at me. I shut my eyes. Make it go away, make it go away, make it go away. I opened my eyes. It's gone. I sighed in relief and looked at the doorway to the room. Something walked past. Okay....WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS THAT?! I am not going to deal with no ghost for a whole hour no, no thank you. But what am I going to do? I HAVE to stay in here or else I have to do something worse, but what's worse than this? I looked in the left corner if the room. The moon was shining down on something shiny. I crawled over to the shiny object. It's a ring, the ring is beautiful. It's diamond, and it looks like a wedding ring. Oh well, I'm keeping it. I slid it on my middle finger and turned back around to my blanket. It's gone, my blanket is gone. What the hell? Okay they must be back and playing a trick on me. " Hello?? Guys?? Very funny, come out now." I stood up walked out of the room. " Guys, come out I know you're here no need to fake it anymore." I turned around the corner into the kitchen. My blanket was over somebody, you know in the movies how ghosts use white sheets over themselves? " Ha! I found you. I don't know which one of you is under here but-." I was walking towards the blanket and it fell flat on the floor. My eyes widen, I stared at the blanket and slowly picked it up. Okay that was not them obviously. I'm done. I can't do it, I still have 30 more minutes left but I can't do it. I'm calling Kate. I went back to the room where my stuff was and called Kate. " Hello?" " Come back right now." I said. " You still have 30 minutes left." She said. " Kate, just listen to me, I don't feel comfortable here can you please come and get me?" I asked. She sighed. " I guess but, you have to buy all of us Starbucks." She said. " Deal okay? Just hurry." I hung up and slid down the wall I was breathing rapidly I am literally so scared right now. I guess I'll try not to think about it until they get here.

I got a text and I grabbed my stuff and rushed to the door. I slammed the door closed and ran to the car. Chase stared at me. " Are you good?" He asked. I nodded breathing hard. " Did you see a ghost?" Miranda asked. " Well not exactly but something really weird happened." Kate looked at me. " What happened?" She said. " So I went into this room because I didn't know where else to go and I saw someone walk past the doorway. And then I saw this shiny thing in the corner and I found a ring." I held up my finger for them to see. Miranda and Kate gasped. " Pretty right? Well when I turned back around my blanket was gone and I thought you guys came back and were playing a trick on me and I went in the kitchen.....and someone or something had the blanket over their head. And when I went over to grab it, the blanket fell to the ground and nobody was under it." Conners mouth dropped open. " Are you for real?" I nodded my head. " Well you still owe us Starbucks but it's closed so tomorrow you owe us Starbucks." Kate said. " Okay. Can you just take me home now?" She nodded her head. She drove off and I stared at the house. That was the dumbest bet I have ever made. I am never stepping foot in the place again.
