ARIANA GRANDE
As I made my way through the busy streets of new york, I ran my fingers through my freshly dyed hair; wondering what he was going to think about it. He had always told me that he liked my natural hair color because it reminded him of autumn- his favorite season. If you couldn't already guess, my hair was auburn.
I had always been pleased with my hair up until today. When i looked at myself in the mirror, the only thing i could see was that washed-up girl that no one could ever love. A girl that manipulated and destroyed everything that came her way and i hated that.
The heavy wind snapped me out of my thoughts as i hummed along and rushed into the nearest café. When i woke up today, instead of having my arms wrapped around the man i loved toying with so much, i woke up next to a letter. it read:
"dear Ariana,
i think its time for us to say our goodbyes, at least for the time being. i love and adore the warmth of your body when its pressed against me at night -- i love holding you, but i have come to my senses and it is now time to part. i hope you understand.
with all love and respect,
Dan."
My emotions were all over the place, my first instinct was to roll out of bed and drive to his job; make a big scene and make him regret leaving. the truth is, he deserved better. he was a smart guy -- ANY girl would be lucky to have him, i just didn't realize what i had in front of me until it was too late.
"Good morning, what would you like?"
I tapped my pen against the counter and scanned the menu- i decided to order a small latte and call it a day. when it was ready i thanked the lady and chose a seat all the way by the window. on my way there, i noticed a blonde boy reading what seemed to be "To kill a mockingbird" Which happened to be one of my favorite books.
I gave him a soft smile and sat down, pulling my phone out of my pocket on the process and setting down what was left of my latte. I was wondering if it was time to text dan, maybe just to thank him for the time being that we spent together. we had known each other for over four years and we were destined to get married. obviously things changed and so did he. my text started out with, "Nice joke, Dan. When are you coming back?" but i know he'd probably suck in his teeth one last time if i asked. That was the thing about me, I never gave up on people. I knew I had messed things up but I had hope that he'd come back and tell me that the "break" wasn't really needed because he loved me this entire time.
I chose to just give him some time and not text him at all, only to find out later that my number had been blocked. Dumbass. How do you just leave someone and don't expect them to call or text you? i cared about his well-being, not our relationship.
"scout" my eyes snapped from the screen of my phone, to the blonde boy i had seen earlier. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and gave him a look. How do i respond to that? "You remind me of her." He mumbled, shyly rubbing the back of his neck. I never noticed the freckles that were resting on his face, waiting to be appreciated. I nodded and looked back down at my phone, "Uh, thanks?" It was his turn to nod as he understood that i was uncomfortable - he mumbled a soft "Bye" and made his way back to his seat.
After i finished the last bit of my latte i stood up and grabbed my purse, throwing my trash out on the way to the door. I loved the aroma and decided to breathe it in one last time before joining the rest of the New York population. Walking over to Sasha's job, i took pictures of all of the dogs i saw on my way there. It was our thing. We both adored dogs so every time we came across one we took pictures. When i reached my destination, I shoved my phone in my pocket and greeted the man standing in front of the large glass door that led to her office.
"Hey pretty lady." she mumbled as she pulled me in for a hug. She smelled like home, and i wasn't so sure what that meant but i found comfort in her scent. "Hi bub." i chirped, placing my huge coat on one of the seats in front of her desk. "Busy day?" i asked, walking over to her huge glass window -- it had one of the best views in New York and i came here often to just stare at the little people.
"Yup." she walked around me and sat down in one of the velvet chairs, chewing her gum obnoxiously. "You need to go out and have fun, Ari."
I rolled my eyes and plopped myself down on the seat next to her, "You're crazy." i mumbled, pulling out my phone from my pocket. Still no text. "I doubt he'll be texting you any time soon - you know what? we're going out tonight. Head home and wear your prettiest dress, you're gonna meet a guy and hit it off."
I giggled and nodded, picking up my purse, "I'm only doing this because i wanna get drunk." I started, heading towards the door. she snored and closed the door behind me as i made my way back into the world.
It took me two hours to find the right outfit. My basic ass decided to wear a black choker, a cream tube top, and mom jeans. Even if it was a basic outfit, i still rocked it. I made sure to do my makeup like Sasha taught me. I know i'm not a pro like her, but you always start somewhere, right?
