I rolled over in my bed, I had another 30 minutes till my alarm would start screaming, I had three options:
1. Sleep for an extra 30 minutes
2. Start my day now, 30 minutes early
3. Wait till it goes off and smash it to pieces with my metal soft ball bat
I went with secret option number 4, disconect the evil thing. I sat up and groaned, today was going to be long and tiring. My father is taking me to the shooting range. My father was different to other dads, most dads would buy their daughter a car or puppy for their 16th birthday, mine brought me a 9x 19mm Walther P99, German semi-automatic pistol, the fun of having parents who are government secret agents. But the information in this story is not to be repeated, remember, I know how to break your hand 27 different ways.
I decided to mix it up today and slide down the banster in my house to get downstairs, I landed softly on my feet and listened, there was no sounds, here was my chance. My mom is teaching me how to be quiet, quick and alert. I grabbed the closset thing to me which happened to be a teddy bear... I put it back and looked at what there was to grab, my eye caught the dumby knife sitting on the table, I grabbed it and silently made my way to the kitchen, following the smell of food. I looked around the corner into the kitchen and saw mom standing in front of the stove, her back to me, I took this as my chance to pounce on her and pull her backwards, I didn't even have time to touch her and I was on my ass.
"Katrina, I said be alert" My mom had me in a headlock.
"Mmmpphh mmph"
"What?"
I tapped her arm three times.
"Oh right", she giggles.
She let me go and I sat at the kitchen island, there was a spread of toast, strawberries, french toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon, did I foget someones birthday?
'Uh mom whats with the food?"
"Practising, we are hosting a BBQ tomorrow and I need to make sure my cooking skills are good plus I'm introducing family breakfast seeing as we all have dinner at different times "
Part of having parents being well spies meant being undercover, I go to school and act like everythings normal and when I get home its training then work at the agency, I turn 18 in a few weeks and the agency already has me a field job with my parents. To keep our life out of danger we have to do normal family things, like have BBQs. We just moved into this town so first impressions are everything.
"Hurry up and eat, you can't be late for school"
"Mom, I drive this years model Mustang GT, I'll never be late for anything"
"Your father didn't tell you? Kat you aren't taking the Mustang to school, you're walking."
"But but but..."
"Talk to your father about it"
I grumbled and swallowed my bacon. I got up and walked out the kitchen back upstairs to dads study, I knocked twice before entering.
"Morning Kat" dad smiled when he saw me, if I were him I wouldn't be smiling.
"You. You took my baby away"
"Kat we need to look normal, kids your age don't drive Mustangs"
I stood there with my mouth opened as he shrugged and turned his back to me, I grabbed a throwing dart out of the dart board and threw it at him, of course he moved out the way.
"You missed" He sounded smug and it only fueled my rage.
I stormed off to my room and got ready. "First impressions are everything" I kept thinking, I grabbed my leather jacket, black skinny jeans and low cut white tee shirt and thigh high boots. Did my eyeliner thick and winged, put my long hair in a high pony tail, didn't do much though, it still reached the bottom of my ribs. I grabbed my bag and sun glasses. I went to grab my keys then I remembered. I said my good byes to my mom and went to the garage.
I croutched down so I was level with the hood of my car.
"I'm sorry baby but you're going to have to stay here, I still love you"
"What are you doing Katrina?" Dad stood in the door way his arms crossed yet he looked amused.
"She needs to know I still love her" I said pouting.
"Come on, I'm taking you to school"
I stood my ground, I wasn't going anywhere.
"Oh we are taking the Jag"
My eyes lit up and I ran toward my dads car.
"All is forgiven" I said smiling ear to ear.
We drove out of the drive way and toward school, the world flew past in a blur. I was nervous. I'm not good at making friends. We reached the schools entrance and the looks were perfect, they were even better when I stepped out. I bid my dad good bye, and he said I'll have to find my way back home, he had work.
I walked toward the office, turned my paper work in and recived my time table, I thanked the lady in administration and started to walk away.
"Hey wait up" I heard a loud voice yell, I turned around to see a girl my age running at me.
"Hello, I'm showing you around, my name is Becca" she held out her hand and I took the gesture. Hmm not hostile or bitchy, she's good.
She took my time table from my hand.
"Ooo History is first and we are in all the same classes so yay"
I simply nodded, she was very enthusiastic.
We walked there in silence. My heels clicking agaisnt the hallway floor was the only sound to be heard. We reached the classroom and instantly every single head in the classroom turned toward the door, Becca looked uncomfortable, I on the other hand stared them all down. The teacher waved the interruption away and continued talking about the nature of spies during the Cold War.
"Yo sir are all spies bad?"
"Yes Dylan they are" the teacher replied, what an ass hat, without thinking I instantly replied.
"Excuse me but no, they aren't. They are given something to protect, observe, find or iliminate, both parties are doing as they're told in the best interest of their country", every pair of eyes were on me, oh right I have to blend. The teacher looked at me in disbelief, he opened his mouth to say soemting but was cut off by the bell, I didn't waste any time getting myself out of there.
"That was epic"
"Uhh thanks?"
"I'm Dylan, walk to lunch with me?"
"Sure" I followed as he led the way.
He was tall, well built, blue eyes with flakes of green and ash blonde hair, probably a jock and more muscle then brains. He said hello to every passing person with a high five here and there. We walked through a set of double doors that led you to an outside area, I followed him to a table in the sun that was occupied by quite a few people.
"Wow Dylan who might this be?" A boy with jet black hair extended his arm to me, I took it, shaking a little too hard.
"I'm Katrina, but please call me Kat"
Everyone said hello and introduced themselves, I felt a pair of hands snake around my waist and pull me close, without hesitation I elbowed him, turned, grabbed his hand and pinned it to his back making him bend forward and yell out with pain.
"Holy sh*t Kat. It's okay"
I looked over at Dylan and then the guy I had almost whimpering, I shook my head.
"I so sorry" I said shaking my head letting him go.
"Nah it's alright, thought you were Cameron, same colour hair" he said rubbing his hand.
"Dylan, sweetheart, who is this?" I followed the sound of a shrill voice and my eyes met a girl with blonde hair in a high ponytail and a freshly pressed cheerleader uniform, things were about to heat up.
