Your POV
As you jumped down the steps of the school building, papers and empty soda cans were thrown at you as people called you names, just like every other day. You continue running until you reached the forest a few blocks away. Once you got well past the tree line, you stopped to catch your breath and started walking at a leisurely pace. As you made your way through the forest you began humming your favorite song to keep your thoughts at bay. As you hum, orbs of lilac colored light start coming out of your hands and floating around you, lighting your way through the trees and bushes. About 10 minutes later you reached your makeshift home, which was a den dug underneath the roots of a tree, a pile of firewood covered with a tarp, and a cot with some blankets in the den. There was also a plank of wood that you placed over the opening of the den whenever it rained. You tossed your messenger bag into the den and sat against the base of a tree a few feet away. You tried to keep your emotions under control, but finally gave in and let the tears that were brimming your eyes fall. The things people said about you were echoing in your mind. " She's such a freak!" "She's so ugly" "She always has her nose in that sketchbook, no wonder she hasn't got any friends!" You pulled your knees to your chest, trying to quiet your mind, but to no avail. As you cried the last of your tears, you let one leg stretch out while placing your arm on the knee of the other. You let your head fall back onto the trunk of the tree, not bothering to dry your tear-stained cheeks. You took a deep breath, closing your eyes, and began singing.

"Let's go in the garden, you'll find something waiting
right there where you left it lying upside down.
When you finally find it, you'll see how it's faded
the underside is lighter when you turn it around.
Everything stays right where you left it, everything stays but it still changes;
Ever so slightly, daily and nightly, in little ways, when everything stays.
You opened your eyes when you hear a few birds fly from their perches and land on your shoulders and arm, and the sound of leaves crunching as a rabbit and a couple of squirrels make their way towards you as you continued singing.

right there where you left it lying upside down.
When you finally find it, you'll see how it's faded

Now, as the instrumental segment played seemingly from nowhere, a pack of wolves surrounded you. They laid down around you, except for a silver wolf, who laid down on your lap. The corners of your mouth stretched into a small smile as you sang.

You closed your eyes as you stroked the wolf's head and wiped your face of tears with the other hand, the taunting voices getting softer and softer. You were so absorbed in the calm atmosphere that you didn't hear the rustling of leaves behind you as you finished the last verse.

Your smile grew as the voices finally went silent and a feeling of contentment washed over you.
"You have a beautiful voice."
Startled, your animal friends scattered and you gasp. Looking to your left, you see a man wearing a suit of form fitting armor with a red cloth tied around his eyes leaning against a tree a few feet from where you were sitting. Still a bit startled by his sudden appearance you said,
"Uh...t-thank you. Who are you?"
"Takashi Kenshi. What is your name, and why are you in the middle of the woods?" The strange man replied. That name...it sounds familiar...where have I heard it before? You were knocked from your thoughts when you realize that he's staring at you, waiting for a reply. Even though he has that cloth covering his eyes, he seems to be...studying you.
"M-My name is (Y/N). (Y/N) (L/N). I uh...I kinda...live here."
Kenshi's eyebrows raise at your statement.
"You...live here? In the forest?"
"Yeah...I have been...for a few years now. Anyways, what are you doing so deep in the woods?" You ask, a hint of interest laced in your words.
"Oh, I was taking a walk to clear my head when I heard you singing. I decided to follow the voice to its source, and I found you."
"Well that seems kinda dumb. What if I was an evil witch trying to lure an unsuspecting traveler into a trap?" You say in a playful yet sarcastic tone.
"Well, then I would've handled it." He replies with a smirk, gesturing to the sword strapped to his back. You chuckle at the gesture and pat the ground next to you, inviting him to sit down. He sits, mirroring your pose. There is a silence, not awkward, but not exactly comfortable either, for a few minutes before you ask the question you've wanted to ask since he showed up.
"So...why do you have that cloth covering your eyes? Are you, um...blind?"
"Yes, I am blind. However, I am still able to "see" my surroundings through the guidance of my ancestors souls within Sento, the sword that I wield."
"Woah...that's really cool. Not the uh, blind part, of course! I-I mean the whole uh, "seeing" through y-your sword thing!" He chuckles at my stammering and says,
"It's alright, I know what you meant. Anyways, why do you live out here in the woods? This area can be quite dangerous at night, you know."
"I've lived here for years now, I can take care of myself just fine." I say, knowing my answer wasn't the one he was looking for.
"You're avoiding the question. Are you running from someone? In hiding?"
"No...it's just that...*sigh*..m-my parents died when I was a kid. I had no other family so...I made a home here." I look over at him as his face falls.
"I...I'm so sorry. I know what it's like to lose a loved one...my wife, Suchin died six years ago."
"Oh. I'm sorry to hear that...it's nice to know that there's someone out there who understands, as morbid as that sounds." I said, laughing quietly. Kenshi smiles and a comfortable silence fills the air.
