"Dear River Ashton Escriout,

We would love to schedule a time to meet you, we are good friends with your parents and with would love to get to know you!
Yours Truly,
The Society Of Dreams."

River had read the letter a million times since she had received it in the mail. She didn't know how to respond to it. Questions rushed through her head like a rapid river, who is this Society Of Dreams? How do they know my parents? Should I ask my parents about them? Do they know where I live? River read it again and again and again. "I don't understand this." She said quietly. Bling Bling her phone beeped telling her that she had a text. It was her sister telling her that the school bus was downstairs and wasn't going to wait. River sighed grabbing her backpack and running down the stairs. The school bus was about to leave, she yelled "Wait!" And ran after it but it was too late, the bus sped away and River stopped running. She looking around and saw a girl two houses down running outside and watching the bus drive into the distance.
River walked faster to catch up with the girl. "Hey! Wait up!" She yelled after her, the girl stopped walking to allow River to catch up with her. The girl smiled a silly smile "Hi there! I'm Chess!" River raised her eyebrows at the name, "Chess?" "Yeah, its weird." Chess's sweet laugher filled the air. "Well I'm River!" Cecilia smiled. "That's a nice name!" Chess said. "So? You missed the bus too?" "I miss the bus every morning! It basically my routine." The girls started walking. "I just moved here." River said crossing the street. "Is that why I have never seen you before?" Chess asked hopping over a puddle. "Probably?" She said. They both talked until they reached the school, then they went their separate ways.

Later that day River was riding the school bus home, Chess was sitting next to her but she was reading a magazine. There were a lot of kids on the bus, but one girl stood out to her she was wearing a pink mini skirt, a white crop top, and on top of all of that black heels. She looked like a barbie doll, girls wearing mostly the same clothes were around her. But the girl in the middle looked the most glamorous and the most like a diva. "That's Caitlin." River heard a voice from behind her say. "Oh my gosh, Chess! You scared me." River laughed. "That girl that you're looking at," Chess pointed at Caitlin, "Her name is Caitlin. She is super popular for no reason whatsoever." Chess and River got up and walked off of the bus, Chess still blabbering about Caitlin and her gang of popular girls. River looked over her shoulder, Caitlin locked eyes with her and shot her a look of pure hatred that turned into confusion and suddenly changed into fear. River stepped off the bus. "River? RIVER?!" Chess said waving her hand in front of River's face, she snapped out of her thought's back into the real world, "What?" Chess sighed, "I was just saying that I have to go?" "Oh! Sorry, I was zoned out..." Chess giggled "don't worry! It happens! I'll see you tomorrow?" River smiled "Sure. Bye, Chess." "Bye River!" Chess walked into her house leaving River alone to walk back to her own house.
River opened the door to her house and yelled "I'm home!!" Only to be received by her older sister Audrey asking her "What took you so long?" River ignored the question and went into the kitchen grabbing a granola bar and headed upstairs to her room.
