Time: takes place in 2014, but 5 Seconds Of Summer were still a garage band.
Red was the color of his t-shirt.
And I always found that quite interesting about the boy. He caught my attention more than I would of liked to admit and I questioned myself, realizing there was something that made me want to look at him.
He was best friends with my brother, and we weren't complete polar opposites, but the only thing similar about us was the fact that we loved music. I don't know what drew us to it so quickly, but maybe it was that we connected through it.
My brother doesn't do so well in school, unlike me who has nearly perfect grades, which I do take tremendous pride in. Grades don't define someone,
yet I believe it says something about me personally. I guess it's all opinion based. School did start to get tougher for me when I couldn't stop thinking about that red shirt.
I couldn't get my brain off of it. I would doodle in class and my mind would wander somewhere to a far place, which normally resulted to me writing about it.
I don't know why I feel so connected
To a simple boy in a red shirt
The color so vibrant it could stop a train of cars on the highway
The overwhelmingness I have when I just see him makes me
More sad than happy
Because he isn't mine
Nor someone else's
But at any time he could be somebody else's
I sighed and continued thinking about him, but the bell rang so I gathered my things and headed to my locker. I opened it and I looked to my right, noticing the shirt almost immediately. The simple red shirt stuck out to me because his style was so flawless, while mine was more dramatic. My bright pink sweater with Girls written on it with blue thread three times in cursive made me think we weren't compatible.
My brother walked next to him, laughing. I waved to him, and he waved back and then suddenly I realized the red shirt was staring back at me. He smiled towards me and I reciprocated, looking down immediately after because the immense feeling was drowning my rationality and I would do something completely stupid in the next five seconds. I could tell he was looking at me, starting from my bright white shoes with a rose emblem on the side of them, the denim skirt hiked up and my sweater tucked it. My hair pulled half up and half down.
I shivered while my brother put his arm on my shoulder and gave me a quick smile, then walking back with the red shirt.
I put my head back and sighed happily.
fuck, I love that red shirt.
