The birds were chirping, singing their lovely songs. It was a nice sunny day in the park and I was sitting in the shade of a tree on a picnic blanket, with a nice array of food in front of me. I was extremely happy and as I looked over to my right I found out why.
Sitting there next to me was the boy of my dreams, the cutest boy in school. My crush. His glasses gleamed in the sparkling sunlight, his hair slightly swayed with the breeze. The scene was perfect.
"Did you enjoy lunch? I know how much you like a nice picnic."
I nodded, leaning back against the back of the tree. I closed my eyes and sighed through my nose. A moment later I felt myself being pulled to the right. The next thing I know I'm leaning on his shoulder.
My crush looked down to me and said, "You seem tired. Why don't we just stay like this for a little bit?"
I obeyed and made myself comfortable. It was really perfect with the sun shining, the cool breeze, and the-- RING RING.
"Ugh..." I groaned as I sat up on my pillow and turned to get my phone off the nightstand. I answered the call and slouched as I put the device up to my ear.
"This better be important. You just woke me up from the best dream ever."
"Sara, Sara, Sara, guess what?" It was my friend Lucy.
"What?" I demanded. When my sleep is taken away from me, I can get a little cranky. Especially on a day off of school.
"Prom's coming up!!!", she practically yelled into the phone.
"Yeah, I know. The school announced this just yesterday." I said raising an eyebrow even though I know she couldn't see me. I got up and stretched as I headed to the bathroom.
"Oh well, uh, were you gonna ask Aaron to be your date?"
I had no words. How could I even think of asking AARON to go to prom with me? I have no idea if he likes me, and he probably already has a date. Probably with Brittney too. Brittney was the sweetest, and cutest girl in school. All the boys liked her, and all the girls wanted to be her. Sure I have style, but I could never be as nice.
"You know I couldn't do that. I would die of embarrassment!" I jumped onto my bed and stuffed my face in the pillow.
"Know you wouldn't. You two are really close." Dana had snatched the phone from Lucy and was now talking to me.
"Yeah, I think you should try. At least confess" Lucy said
"Yeah confess!" Dana chimed in.
"Easier said than done" I mumbled.
"Hey come over to my house and we can discuss our plans for prom. It is only a couple days away," said Lucy. Right before I could say OK she hung up the phone.
"Well here goes nothing" I sigh as I head out the house.
