One early afternoon in late summer I had been called into an interview for an opening in a fast food position at a nearby food joint. I step out of the fire red pickup truck as my father wishes me good luck. I gaze at the doors that awaited my future and I acted. I open the glossy window panned door and the aroma of roast beef and fryer grease wafted into my nose. I look around and I go up to the granite counter and ask to see the manager about the interview. The worker pointed to a lonesome lady in the corner of the store. She had a giant stack of paperwork and she was looking through the stack. I introduce myself and she does as well. I sit across from her and we begin. " What makes you qualify for the job?" Mrs. Christine asks me. "I am intelligent and efficient and I am punctual." I say. After talking for almost half an hour we were about to part ways and she tells me. "If you come in Tuesday next week you get the job." Leaving the restaurant I look to my father with a mile wide smile. I put my thumbs up to signal it went great. I enter the pickup and he asks me, "So? How did it go?" "She told me if I come in Tuesday I have the job!" I explode with excitement. We go home and wait for Tuesday to come. Waiting and waiting I become impatient and excited all at the same time.
My father drops me off to meet with my soon to be boss. I enter the store and look around it is mostly empty, like a ghost town except for three tables pushed together with a whole bunch of new faces crowding around it and Mrs. Christine was standing at the head of the table. I notice that among the new people was a familiar person. An old family friend, Tina. Tina used to be my neighbor and we grew up together. "Hey I didn't know you were here too!" I say to her and she smiles to me. We all fill out paper work for our final hiring process and I meet the new people there. Soon most would end up as my friends. "You start your training next week." Mrs. Christine Says to me. I call my dad and he comes to pick me up. " It's good that you are joining the work force son." "Yeah I know I'm happy about it." I say as we drive off.
