More Than Friends

Chapter 5:

Today was finally Saturday so that means, no classes for today. But when my alarm went off I made a little groaned and move to my left side where my night stand was to turn off the alarm. 8:00 am. UGHHH! Time to get up Layla, you got work today. I stood up from my exquisite bed and started to get ready. After brushing my teeth, taking a good shower, putting on my wok uniform and doing my makeup and my hair, I went downstairs to grab some coffee before heading to work. I saw that there was some brewed coffee left so I took it and start sipping it from my mug. I was about to go out the front door when Mauro called me. "Layla".

I turned around. "What's up Mauro?" I asked him. a

"I need your car for one more day, please." He said looking at the floor and scratching the back of his neck.

I crossed my arms and looked at him. "For what? You said it was only for one day?" I asked him.

"Yes, I know I said that, but I have to buy the new tire today, and besides..." he lower his voice. "I offered my friend that I could give her a ride home today after work." He said to me almost in a whisper.

"What was the last part you said?" I asked smirking, just to torture him a little. He looked at me with a serious face as telling me 'you-know-what-I-just-said' and frown. I put both of my hands in the air and laughed. "Ok, ok I heard you. But I'll give you my car with one condition." I said and he rolled his eyes at me.

"No, no don't roll those eyes to me. Tell me, is this 'mystery girl' the one that works with you?" I asked him smirking.

He looked at me for a while, but he wasn't getting away that easily without telling me. He sighed knowing that I will not give him my car if he don't answer my question.

"Yes, is that girl from work." He said in defeat.

"Wooohoo!!" I screamed excited. "That girl is gorgeous and she seems to like you from the beginning." I said winking at him. He smiled at me and you could see his face practically light up when I said that. You see, I know most of the working partners of my brother because when he started to work in that company I was finishing High School and my school was a few blocks from his work and after school, Jamie's mom dropped me there. Then I would stay in his office doing homework until he finished his work and then get home.

"Ok fine, you can have my car, ONLY FOR TODAY. And one more thing, you're doing the dishes today." I said putting my tongue out at him.

"Wait, what? But today is your turn of doing the dishes." He said pointing the obvious.

"Do you want my car or not?" I asked him teasingly.

He groaned. "Fine, I'll do the dishes today. But you're going to pay for that." He said pointing me with his finger as a warning.

I laughed. "Yeah, all right Mauro, now give me a ride to work." I said to him walking to the passenger side of my car and he followed me.

Today work was insane! Well, all Saturdays are crazy in here. We were extremely rushed during the breakfast hours. After that the place was less crowded so I started to clean all the tables and afterwards I started to organize all the pastries that were placed on the showcase and filled the ones that were practically empty.

"Um, excuse me. Hi." Someone said from the other side of the counter. I looked up to see a blonde with blue eyes girl. She looked like if she was my age.

"Hi, good morning. What can I get for you?" I said politely to her.

"Um, I just saw on the internet that this place is hiring people and I'm interested to work here. Can I talk to the manager?" she asked me.
