"Finn wait up" I yell, trying to catch up with my best friend in the hallway. Finn and I have known each other since kindergarten, but I honestly don't know how we are still friends. She is the popular cheer leading type, tall, skinny, and with absolutely stunning features. With her long curly black hair and her bright blue eyes, she could get anyone to do her will with simply a glance. She is way out of my league due to the fact that 1: I'm extremely unpopular and 2: I am very short (like 4'11" short). My only redeeming feature is my curly red hair , but its overruled by my gross green eyes. If you couldn't tell, in any other world there's no way that we could ever be friends. Yet friends we stay.
I still remember the first day we met. It was two weeks into kindergarten, and there were two boys picking on me. I was just minding my own business when they came up and started making fun of my pigtails. I know what you are probably thinking "oh honey if boys pick on you that just means they like you." But that's not true. I know what they were thinking. They were thinking 'oh let's just pick on the tiny kid. It'll be fun'. Spoiler alert, it was not fun for me. So they kept picking on me. And I mean, this went on for months. But then, there came Finn. She was a few inches taller than all the kids so they were automatically kinda scared of her, and she stood up for me. Since then we have sort of been like a sad crime fighting duo. We were always the same. Never fighting, always agreeing on everything, until recently. Now, my favorite music is All Time Low, while she tends to stick to top 40. Finn loves everything pink and pastel, while I tend to stick to black. Also, as aforementioned, she's a cheerleader and I'm an outcast. Oh and I almost forgot; I like girls and she likes guys. So literally exact opposites. Yet we have stuck together like glue.
Usually, once you get to middle school and high school, you stop talking to your old friends. It doesn't exactly mean that there was anything wrong with your old friends, but think about it. Before, it was just a bunch of kids who live together shoved together. You had no choice, you found friends who you liked, and you went from there. As you grow up however, you migrate towards people who have more in common with. Finding new people is just a way of life. I mean literally everyone I know has. So you start spending more time with like-minded individuals and less time with old friends, and eventually, you don't really have anything in common with your old friends anymore. It's just the way of life. Not Finn and I though. Despite our differences, we are still as close to each other as ever. Or so I thought..
Don't worry, I'll explain later. But first, this happened.
