"When will you stop ignoring me?"

Duly, I glanced up from the car window I was leaning on. My gaze landed on the aged, wilted man whom I called "Dad". Immediately, the tension fogged up the car.

Wincing, Dad muttered, averting his eyes on the road, "I'm trying you know."

You can't try for something that doesn't exist. Wisefully, I kept quiet. He deserve this, my subconscious lashed, after leaving us like that, stomping on our tears... and leaving Mom to die.

"I know this isn't the right moment, but as you know, under my roof, there are going to be some rules."

Even after Mom's death, all he is going to do is protect her. Tears welled up in my, but I quickly swallowed the lump in my throat down. Stay strong, Cher.

"As you know, Marie isn't in a stable state to deal with your attitude right now." He paused, glancing over at me. His face was now a stone, whatever warmth he had before was gone.

"Put aside your silly vengeful thoughts. The baby is being expected sooner or later-"

"Baby?"

My blood ran cold. Questions began to swirl inside my head. How long had his affair been?  Did he ever, for once, even love Mom?  I slowly faced him. Dad's face was frozen, his fingers clenched the steering wheel.

Pursing his lips, Dad whispered, "She is expected in two weeks. You're getting a new brother."

Silence. The roads around us began to blur as he stepped on the gas. But I didn't care. All that mattered now was that, all these years, my biological father had abandoned me for a prostitute and her baby.

"We're here."

I sat in my seat, watching his bony figure step out of the car. I heard him opened the trunk and hauling in my suitcases. I tried to move, tried to breath.

Whatever may happen, let go of the grudges of yesterday.

I'm sorry, Mom. But I just can't forgive nor trust anymore.
