'Too late'

As the clock counted down, I could feel my mate's bound forming. Suddenly their seant filled my nose and I followed to where it was coming from. As I ran through the woods, I jerked when the smell disappeared and when I looked down I stood on a marble grave stone. After I shifted back to my human form I read "Lexi Meckilos. Born 1997. Died 2010. A loving daughter who is never forgotten." When I got done, tears were falling down in a rush. My mate died before I got to know her. As I mourned over the grave of my mate, someone slowly made their why to me and laid their hand on my shoulder. Looking up I saw a woman and a man next to her, with years in their eyes I knew they were my mate's parents. Standing up I engulfed myself around them and cried.
