January 11, 1990; Just off the coast of Cuba- We begin our trip off well, as it should go of course. We have done this thousands of times before, and nothing should go wrong. The S.S-37, also known as Ekon. Ekon was a submarine built for Navy purposes, an Oscar-ll type sub, built 154 meters long. Chrome, nickel and stainless steel all branded together in construction of this superstructure that we will use to sneak past enemy lines in the darkness of the unexplored ocean depths. If this expedition goes well, the captain and officers will be publicly well known, for we have the upper advantage in case war breaks out. We will succeed and triumph the enemy.
-Commanding Officer of Ekon, James Brier
