The Time I Lived

Chapter One

It was a crisp,and windy morning. Lyla woke up early to meet her friend Christy at the smoothie shop.

"Can I have a strawberry and banana smoothie, please." Christy said.

"Yes ma'am." said the counter clerk.

"And can I please have a mango and cherry smoothie." Lyla said.

"Okay,they'll be here in just a minute." the counter clerk said.

Lyla and Christy took their seats at a small metal booth. Lyla and Christy just sat in silence. They were tired- and with a whole week with exams you could call them exhausted.

"Here are your smoothies young ladies." said a thin and tall waitress.

"Thank you." Lyla and Christy said in unison.

They slowly drank their smoothies.

"Aren't you super excited to go have a tour of NASA space program?" Christy said trying to break the silence.

"Yeah." Lyla said, zoning off as she spoke.

"Oh c'mon,you're at least a little excited." Christy said nagging her.

"Ok I guess." Lyla said.

"Something's wrong, and don't deny it." Christy said now looking serious."You can tell me."

"Fine." Lyla said looking annoyed.

Lyla sighed and replied. "It's just that.. Well.." she began.

Christy glanced at her. "And....?"

Lyla continued. She hesitated a bit, her words were slurred.

"I, um.. can we talk in the library." Christy nodded, and sipped her smoothie.

"Uh, we should get going now."Lyla said getting up.

Then they walked to school drinking the remains of their smoothies.

"Do you promise to tell me in the library?" Christy asked, the serious tone back.

Lyla nodded.

"Yes. Let's hurry up."

They moved at a brisker pace to Tristan Junior High School. When they walked into school the students were tired and sulking around dreading the exams coming that day. Christy glanced at a clock on the wall and pulled Lyla into the library. There were only a few students inside already, and most were studying. They sat at an empty table.

"Now tell me,this time for reals." Christy said moving her shoulder so her face was facing her.

Lyla took a deep breath

"I have to do something...important at the NASA Space Station."

Christy looked puzzled.

"I had like a vision, to go and t-t..." Lyla said, knowing she was making no sense.

"Do what?"Christy asked, trying to get it all out of her friend.

"Time Travel."Lyla blurted out.

Lyla felt her cheeks warm. Christy was silent for a minute.

"You're lying." Christy confirmed.

Lyla shook her head.

"I'm serious, believe me Christy. I've never lied to you before.."

Christy smiled.

"Okay, but you did lie to me at Marcy's Birth-hd..."

Lyla cut her off. "That's not the point. I just want you to know that I'm not lying." Christy nodded sincerely.
