Inspired by My Life Story

Start from the beginning

I stood in the middle of this circle, drooling over this girl whom I've never in my life seen before. I tried desperately to get out of the circle to take another glance, but there was a sea of people blocking my view of this angel. I got out of the circle, ran to the nearest table, and sat on a chair to try to catch my breath. I looked around and I saw her standing near a table with some of her friends. I just sat there and watched her. Just by looking at her, I couldn't help but smile. Now I'm a pretty spontaneous person but in that moment I was frozen. I couldn't move, and I didn't know how to approach nor speak to her. So I sat there. After a few minutes had gone by and I lost sight of her. I thought to myself, I would never see another girl like her again.

"Everything happens for a reason. Every person we meet will have a role in our lives, be it big or small. Some will hurt, betray and make us cry, to become stronger. Some will teach us lessons, not to change us, but for us to realize our mistakes, and to help us grow, and make us a better person. And some would simply inspire and love us, to make us happy."

Shortly after the dance ended, the lights went up, and we were then escorted like cattle outside of the school. I met up with one of my friends whom I was dancing with in the circle. We'll just call him Alex. Previously, we were told that there'd be a senior after party taking place at someone's house. Alex and I got the address and we both hopped in our cars and raced each other to see who can get to the house first. I won of course, he told me "he let me win." Yeah, okay whatever. The whole night I was at the party, I couldn't stop thinking about that girl and how beautiful she was. Everything about her seemed so perfect. Her beauty was beyond words, indescribable. I ended up leaving the party early, still thinking about her, I couldn't get her out of my head and I didn't even know her. But by looking at her, I felt as if we'd known each other for a long time.

A week goes by, and I end up hanging with my boy Alex and his friend who we'll call Megan. I didn't know much about Megan at the time, but why not make a new friend. The 3 of us ended up having a very fun night, one of the best nights I've had in a long time. I ended up having to drive Megan home, and on the way to her house something compelled me to talk to her about this 'mystery girl' I saw at homecoming, hoping that she'd help me find her. I described what she looked like, "beautiful blond hair, gorgeous blue eyes, and a cute nose." Everything about her was so breathtaking there is so much to describe about her. Even to this day I get choked up just talking about her. Immediately after describing her, Megan pulled up her Instagram and began searching. And she showed me a picture of a girl. I looked at that picture for about a minute, at the time it felt like an hour. It was her, it was the girl I fell for at homecoming. I looked at Megan and I couldn't help but smile. She's the one. She told me that she's good friends with her. What are the odds of this happening? I was so blown away. I told Megan, "I'm going to make her mine one day." She told me she could help me out if I wanted her too. Quickly I told her, "Yes please". Without hesitation. She got out of the car as we were already at her place. We exchanged goodbyes, and I was off. I remember parking my car at home, walking outside, and looked at the view of the city which I definitely take granted. I gazed into the night sky and said, "Whoever's up there, thank you." Shortly after I walked back inside and slept the night away. Another week goes by and I didn't hear much from Megan about the mystery girl. Until one Wednesday night, the night that changed my life forever.

It was just another boring night. I didn't do my homework as usual, ate leftover food in the fridge, and decided it was time for me to take a shower. It was getting pretty late and I wanted to get to school early the next day so I can do the homework I didn't do the night before. So I hopped in the shower when I notification appear on my phone through the steamy, sliding glass door. It was one of those twitter notifications saying "this person followed you." Well that person happened to be the girl. I won't be using her name while writing this. So we'll call her Brooke. Brooke, the girl who was going to be mine someday followed me. I walked out of the shower shivering because I had no towel nearby and I just looked at the notification on my home screen. I was in disbelief. I thought I was living in a fantasy, "Am I dreaming?" I thought to myself. "I didn't know what to do." I wanted to DM her, so I quickly got dressed, pulled up my seat to my desk with my computer and just sat there. Ready to send a DM, but all you could see was the blinking cursor. I sat there and watch it blink, and blink, and blink almost as if it were mocking me. I tried so hard to think of something to say but I couldn't. I felt like every word that I would say to her from here on out was either life or death. I desperately tried to come up with something to say. I remember writing different versions of the word "hey". Should it it be capitalized? Should I add a smiley face next to it? Should I start with something besides hey? All of these played a big factor in trying to stand out, but nothing seemed to work. I wanted to text her something playful, yet inviting. I remembered that our friends made plans for us to meet. Unfortunately, she couldn't hang out that night, so decided to text her something relating to that. Shortly after while contemplating my very existence at this point, an idea sparked in my head. I wrote this. "Hey you! Sucks you couldn't come Saturday, was looking forward to meeting you *nervous emoji*. Then I hit send. I stood looking at my phone in the middle of the dark waiting for a response. 10 minutes went by and I quit. I thought I blew it, my chances of "her being mine one day" were over. After 20 minutes had gone by, I got a response. "Heyy! I'm so sorry about that, I really wanted to go and meet you too." I nearly collapsed. No joke I was probably the happiest person on this planet just by getting a response from her. I typed "Where do you hang out during nutrition? kinda want to meet you."Nutrition was a small 15 minute break all students were given between second and third period. It was almost 1:00 am and I wasn't expecting a response, so I slept on it. That morning I woke up to her DM. She replied, "I hang out at the red tables in front of the gym". I knew exactly where that was, though I never would've guessed that out of all the places she'd be there. And it just so happened that I pass by those tables a lot to get to my third period class. To this day I'm still stuck in disbelief that I hadn't noticed her there through all the times I've passed by that area.
