Cassandra was beautiful. She always knew what to say. And when to say it. She knew how I felt, and she knew how to make me feel better.
She wasn't just beautiful on the outside, she had a big heart. Her heart was beautiful. Her soul. The way she talked. the way she laughed. She was a special girl.
Her friends and family called her Cass, but I called her Cassie. Only because she'd told me once that no one ever called her that. So I said it in a joking tone. Little did I know how it would feel when Someone said, "Cassie." Or even whispered it.
I knew she was important to me. She meant the world to me. She'd text me all of the time, but it didn't annoy me, it was like... When it was raining, and I mean pouring, she would call me, and the clouds would open up, and a rainbow would come. She made me smile.
We would sit and talk for hours, and when we couldn't be together, we charged up our phone bills. I think our longest conversation was 6 hours on the phone. Both of our parents cursed us out for that one, but we didn't care. When it used to get quiet on the phone, I would sing, "say something I'm giving up on you." And she would say, "No, please don't give up on me James." And we would both chuckle. But sometimes she would continue, and sing along with me, "I'll be the one if you want me to."
She was a great singer, her voice was kind of harsh, but calming, and I loved that she was comfortable enough to sing around me. It felt so good that she trusted me. She was a very shy person, and very quiet.
She used to get complimented by random people. Girls in grocery stores, boys on bikes in a park, Instagram models, even my friends thought she was perfect.
There was this time that we were supposed to go on a carnival date, so I warned her about my friend zander, he flirts with everyone.
We went to a coffee shop once and I brought my friend Reilly. That was the worst mistake ever, but, she was cool about it.
She was cool about everything. She didn't question me, and I didn't question her. She just, held hers, and I held mine. I liked that we could be individual, but the exact same person all in one.
I still think about her sometimes. I remember how I used to feel. But now I'm always too high, and I don't really want to think about her. Because I know I hurt her.
flashbacks still come, but I'm the guilty one. You see, I broke her. She really did love me. I've had others, and I mean, so has she. But not like us.
We were different. She loved me more then the rest, she told me. But I still chose to... let it go, to stop trying, to give up.
Because when things get hard I leave. I didn't tell her that, but it was the one thing I should have. Maybe then she wouldn't have loved me as much as she did. I didn't deserve her love.
I didn't even do it in person.
I'm a bad influence, and she knew, maybe that intrigued her. Maybe that interested her. Maybe she thought that was a good way to escape. But she wasn't like that. She was a good girl.
I need to get her off my mind, the guilt is killing me. A wise girl once told me, "When you're hurt, and you have no one to go to, write it down. It's your soul's escape."
So, I'm here. With this pen in my hand. Here it is. I'm trying it. This is the story of me.
No, of us.
No, of her.
Yeah...
