Neon lights

I lay on my bed, staring up at the white ceiling, my mind empty.
When I turned 17 my parents had kicked me out of the family home for reasons unknown to me. I had overheard them saying that I was "wasting away" and that I needed to experience "real life", but I hadn't been wasting away, I just didn't have anyone who would listen to me. I looked at my watch, it was 6:27pm. I unwrapped the duvet from around my body and clambered out.
I picked up the nearest clothes I could find on my floor that weren't dirty. black jeans and a black T-shirt, very basic but it will do for now.
I took my jacket of the peg and headed out the door.

Recently I've been going out a lot but for no reason, walking aimlessly for hours. I have no one to meet with, no where to go and no plans.
So recently I've found myself at the same ramen store on almost everyday that I've bothered to go out. It's situated downtown only a couple of minutes away from my apartment so it's convenient and easy to get to. As I turn the corner I can see the all too familiar neon sign and the smell of ramen drawing me into the store. It's has quickly become my favourite place since I moved to the city, the atmosphere is calming and quite, the perfect place for me to clear my head.
I sit down in one of the booths furthest from the exit on the corner and order the usual.

The ramen store is often relatively empty due to the time that I visit, most people come for lunch but I prefer to visit in the later hours to avoid all the hustle. But this time someone in the corner catches my eye.
It's a boy, he looks around my age or maybe older. He's on his phone and the White light bounces of his face, he doesn't have any food sitting I front him and I wonder why, maybe it hasn't arrived yet? He's wearing white trainers which he paired with some black jeans and a black and white top, basic just like me. Except it doesn't look boring on him like it does on me, and I can't figure out why.
I must have been staring because he looked straight at me. And then I realised why the plain clothes looked so great on him. The black and white contrasted beautifully with his eyes. They were a deep aquamarine and green with Hazel flecks spread throughout, they shone like a blue green opal. Maybe he purposely wore dull colours to draw attention to his eyes because it sure was working.
I couldn't see much of his hair due to the basketball cap he was wearing but from what I could see from underneath it also looked pretty simple.
I quickly looked away, realising I had been staring for too long. I hoped he hadn't noticed my face turning red. I had never seen this boy before, maybe he just moved here and found the atmosphere as peaceful as I did. I'm not sure how long he'd been there for but he soon got up and left.
I finished my meal, paid, and left the store stepping out into the icy air and
with each breathe I took the glacial air stung my lungs.

I headed home and continued on some artwork for my school art project. I hadn't realised it when I was painting but I had used a collection of blues and greens in my painting, it only reminded me of the boy in the ramen shop and for some reason I couldn't get him of my mind.
I decided I had done enough work for today and went to sleep
