I stared at the large house. I had just climbed out of a voltswagon driven by my new parents. My little sister came and stood by me, and took my hand in hers.

Leah was the only person I had ever willingly let touch me.

"Silas," she stood on her tip toes, trying to whisper into my ear, but her head just barely reached my shoulder. I leaned down "Is this where we are gonna live?" She asked me.

I looked into her big, trusting hazel eyes that were more brown then green at the moment. I smiled at her and ran my hand down her auburn hair, masking my own thoughts, I nodded.

"You have to be very good, okay, Song?" I called her by the nick name I had given her when she was three. She used to introduce herself as  "Lala" and one day I just called her "Song".

Her face grew serious as she nodded.

I smiled down at her, a real smile this time. I had done my best to shelter this kid from the world, but in doing so, I had grown up real fast. It was a choice I would go back and make a thousand times over, because even though life had thrown it's worst at us, she was still sweet, and if I didn't have that type of spirit in a cheerleader called Leah, mine would be broken.

At 7 years old she resembled everything that was good and right in the world and that kept me going. It held me up and made life worth living.
