I stand in the middle of the battlefield,
observing everything around me.
I can feel the tremors of the ground with my countrymen's heavy marching.
I hear their guns and shouts against the enemy we are facing.
I can smell the stench of sweat and blood in the air.
I see death everywhere.
With my comrades behind me,
I feel foolish courage swell with in me.
Fear was beyond me
As I charged towards the enemy.
The sufferings I have endured in this never ending war.
I never even thought of the reward.
The pain that I felt,
does not compare to the death that I myself have dealt.
I did not even think of myself
Only that I free my people of this hell.
Just like the battle in Bataan,
This is where I make my last stand.
Now as I lay in the bloodied ground
I think of my motherland.
I have given it my life
This is my last sacrifice.
For the family that I left
Do not ever fret.
I am now with my Creator
As I welcome my eternalslumber.
