So there was a question that I had for a really long time during the first few years of writing.

How do I write as good as my favorite authors?

The answer is you don't. You just write as good as you can. It does help though to study how the author constructs the sentences and paragraphs they write. Examine how the reader becomes emotionally involved. But for the most part the writing comes from you. It comes from being you through your writing, not trying to be someone else when writing. Just to the best ability that you can. Make your best effort.
