I wondered beneath the deck untill I found Merry's cabin. I heard her humming and meows and I couldn't help but smile.

"Merry?" I called out as I got to her door.
Suddenly the door swung open.
"[F/n]-chan! You're here! Come in, come in-meow!"
"Oh-um-I'm just here to tell you that Mezu-"
"I'll get to that later! Now I need your help to help me organize my closet-meow." Merry grabbed my arm and pulled me into her cabin.
"Help her organize her-Woah!"
I went from confused to amazed in less than a second. There were dresses everywhere. Blue, green, pink, purple,  some where even tie-die and there were matching bonnets with each outfit.
The number of dresses reminded me of my life before I left home. Mom always wanted me to wear dresses, constantly. I don't know why, something about lady etiquette.
Merry went to the center of the room and plopped down on s pile of dresses and bonnets.
"I have so many, and I don't know how to organize them in the correct way-meow. Is there even a correct way? Oh I'm hopeless-meow." I couldn't help but giggle a little. She was adorable and so kind. It's not like I could refuse to help her, besides back when I lived in that hellish household I knew how to perfectly organize the dresses I recieved with eyes closed without flaw. After all, if I didn't, my mother would later make me regret it.
"Alright the easiest and the quickest way is to sort them by colour, and then within that, sort it by the lightest shade of that colour to the darkest shade. Quick and simple!"
Merry's eyes lit up as of she just discovered this knew found hope.
"Alright then-meow! Let's start with the pinks! And then after were done with my dresses we can sort Midnight's cat ties-meow!"
I nodded and laughed. Merry seemed so playful but I could tell there was something mature about her too. She had the vibe of a child and a mother.

As soon as we finnished, I reminded Merry that Mezumi wanted to see her and that's the reason I came down to her in the first place.
"Thanks so much [F/n], you know I don't know what it is but your just a grand person to talk too. I could tell Mezumi was excited to see you-meow... and I haven't seen her get this excited in a long time. Your a special one [F/n], I know we're going to become the grandest of freinds-meow!" Merry ran off in search of Mezumi and I made my way back to my cabin.
"Excited to see me? Ya right. Mezumi was probably just fantasizing over thought of punching me in the face for being such a clutz."
As I walked in I noticed there were hot cocoa packets left on my bed. I grinned at the the thought of who left them for me.
"How did they know?"
"ALRIGHT HOT COCOA!!" A voice screemed from a room across mine. I immediately knew it was Octavius.
"I guess the captain came around and left us all a few packets" I giggled at Octavius's loud expression of his joy.

I wondered if Mezumi liked hot cocoa? I immediately flashed back to what Mezumi said about taking some time to reflect on my spar with her.
Conveniently there was a coffee maker on the desk inside my room. I quickly made a cup from the cocoa packets and sat crosslegged on my bed, then started analyzing my previous fight.
"Ok think [F/n], what could you do differently in that stance that won't cause you to land on your back."
I contemplated possible results for the possible attacks I could throw at Mezumi.
"What if as soon as she caught my arm, I could kick up instead of down. That way it would be to high for her to frontflip over me with out a running start, not to mention she'll still be attached to my fist. If I'm fast enough, I could end up kicking her right in the face!"
As on instinct I put my hot cocoa down, and stood straight up. Out of nowhere I imagined Mezumi standing right infront of me and kicked my leg all the way up into a seventy-five degree angle, way over my head.
During my combat training at my formor mansion I learnt to be really flexible and good at holding my own weight. It must of sticked with me all this time because I kept my leg up, lost in thought, for a solid minute.

"So do you just stand like that on one leg to pass time or what" an intriuged voice chuckled.
"Ah what the tut?!"
I whipped my head around to see a figure leaning on my doorframe, but I must of forgot I was on one leg because my entire body revolved around causing me to loose my balance and eventually fall.
Once again, a pair of hands, the same pair of hands from before caught me and gracefully lifted me back onto my feet.
"We really gotta stop doing this [F/n]." Octavius grinned. "Well what can I say, the ladies just fall for me. I owe it all to my dangerous good looks."
"Tch narcissist." I laughed back at him. "And no I don't stand in bizarre positions in my spare time. I'll have you know know that I was mentally training." I finnished off with a hair flip.
"Oh ya, mentally trainning for what? An intense game of freeze dance?" Now he was laughing uncontrollably on my bed.
I sighed and smiled. Octavius was so lighthearted, it was easy to talk to him.
I started explaining what went down above deck with Mezumi and the different types of attacks either she or I would have to be able to anticipate. I also told him how each time I tried something, I would end up on my back and she would end up either smirking at me, or sticking her tongue out at me.

"Hmm." Octavius examined me after he finally stopped laughing. "Go back into that kick stance again."
"Um-Ok." I slowly levitated my leg again, until it was at a seventy-five degree angle.
He grabbed the leg in the air and shifted down into the right.
"When you kick, how about instead of kicking upward but to the side then quickly bring it over in your opponents direction." He motioned my leg as he spoke. " Don't kick to high of low. That way your opponent will be forced to move to the side and you can use your other hand to throw a punch in one of their vital spots." He finnished with a look of accomplishment.
"Wow your totally right. Thanks Octavius." I was amazed how quickly he put that together. "You must have a lot of experience as a hunter, don't you?" I asked as I finnally lowered my leg.
"Well not really, I mean I only got my hunter license about a year and a half ago." He replied
"What?! No way! I assumed that you had yours forever." I was astonished.
"Haha no, well I'm only seventeen so it couldn't have been that long since I--"
"YOUR ONLY SEVENTEEN?" I completely cut him off. "Your only a year older than me pretty boy." (lets just say ur 16, and you were 15 when you got ur hunter license)
"Wow, I guess I got my license the year before you did!" He grinned.
"Ya well I'll catch up! Believe it!" (if u get that reference we are best friends)

He laughed and then I laughed, then we both laughed for what seemed like forever.
Then I got serious.

"Hey... Octavius. Do you happen to know what Nen is? Everbody keeps talking about it and I feel like I'm being left in the dark." I looked at him sternly.
"Ya well, I guess I know what it is but I don't think it's something I should be explaining to you. In all honesty, I'd probably just confuse you. I wouldn't worry about it and instead just try and focus on what Mezumi's teaching you...Even Merry told me she wants to take me back to square one." He finnished no longer with that reassuring grin. "But seriously don't worry! I'm sure whatever it is, we'll push through it.. together!" He grabbed and held my hand for that last word.

Out of suprise and shock I pulled back my hand really quickly, but when I realized what I just did it was too late.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to-I- I just-"

"It's ok [F/n], sorry I got a little excited there and just grabbed your hand without thinking. Just forget about it, K? It's late I should get going, see you tomorrow [F/n]" He was already closing the door.
I felt a liitle guilty but what was I supposed to do.
"The only one that's ever held my hand was.... Kurapika. I liked it when he did. His hands were soft and warm and AGH WHAT AM I SAYING."
I huffed.
"Hmm I wonder if he knew what Nen was. He probably did, that kids a geinus.... A stupid genius. For a smart kid, dumping me was a dumb move."
In that momment, I didn't know what I was feeling. I was just... confused.

"Hmm now that I think of it, Octavius reminds me a lot of Kurapika. Sure Kurapika's a bit more serious but they both have similar personality features. Maybe thats why I find it so easy to talk to Octavius." I said to myself. "Although I wonder... in the future...

will that be a good thing?"
