The silence is what woke me. It was too quiet, like no one else was alive. I stood up out of bed and walked through the house. I slowly opened the door to my parents room. They were asleep in bed.

"Mom? Dad?" I walked over to there bed, and shook my dad. He didn't wake. I tried my mother. Nothing. I checked both of their pulses, and they were still alive. I backed out of the room, confused and afraid. I raked my hands through my hair before opening the front door and running into the street. I knocked on the neighbors door, and nothing happened, then the next house and the next. I was really starting to panic. Then, I looked into the car stopped in the middle of the road. The driver and his passengers were all fast asleep, completely unaware of me or anyone else.

"HELLO?!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, running into the street. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes and worry knotted in my stomach. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, saying the things I knew.

"My name is Naya Leeverman. I live in Portland, Oregon. I am sixteen years old. Everyone in my town is asleep. I don't know what to do." I was crying now, sinking to my knees in the road.

"Okay, okay. I can figure this out." I said to myself. I stood up and walked back inside. I ran into my room and sat down on the bed, pulling my laptop from under the covers. I opened up facebook, hoping to find someone else awake. The first post I saw was exactly what I was hoping to find. I wasn't following them, but it was what had seen the most activity.

"Is anyone else awake?" read the post. There were three other comments. I clicked to see them, and they all said the same thing.

"I am. What's going on?" No one had any answers.
