Chasity Hickens was my name before I died, before my brother shot me in the cabin where we were camping out. I was ordinary and had my whole life in front of me. I stayed with my parents but I was engaged to the man of my dreams. Hunter Kale. He was truly amazing and made me the happiest. This was my last year of high school and I planned on moving with Hunter. I wanted to be Mrs. Kale and I did everything I could to make that happen. I was a straight A student. My hair was blonde and very long. My dad called me Rapunzel, even though my hair was no where near that long. My brother, I loved him, you would have never thought he would do a thing like this. The real answer was why? October 12th, 2002 was my last day to live, had I known I would have done many things differently.

*Earlier that day Oct 12th, 2002*

"Hunter I need you to be on time, I'm going to miss my hair appointment." I yelled to my newly fiance. I brushed my long hair so annoyed at the thought of even having to comb it out. I hated how it got tangled at the end, hated how I couldn't just put it in a bun.

"Don't get a haircut I think you look fine." Hunter said wrapping his arms around my waist. I smiled still irritated but smiled at the smell of my future husband, the thought of spending the rest of my life with him.

"Chasity, Veronica is here!" My mom yelled up the steps.

Veronica is my best friend. We met when I was in the fifth grade. She was walking down the hallway eating a ice cream cone. I walked passed her and shoved it in her face. Once we finished in the principle's office we had been friends every since.

I watched her walk in my room and sit on the bed. "What is he doing here?" she said rolling her eyes at Hunter. I rolled mine as well but at her. I continued brushing my hair preparing for the argument I was about to have to deal with between them.

"Do you always open your fake lips to speak?" Hunter snapped back. "Fakeness attracts the boys, HATER!" she said back rolling her tongue over her lips. "Stop already I'm not going to listen to this. The camping trip is tonight and you two need to learn how to get along." I said putting on a jacket.

"Let's go!" I said walking out of the door leaving them two behind. I needed to be at my appointment by 2. "Hi honey, Toast?" My mom said as I entered the kitchen. My mom was kind and wouldn't harm a fly. "No I'm about to be late." I tried to raise my voice so Hunter and Veronica could hear me since they both haven't made their way downstairs. "I'm about to leave them here it is 1:53." I told my mom grabbing a coke and walking towards the counter. "I thought Hunter was driving y'all." My mom said. I rolled my eyes and pointed at the stairs. "They won't hurry up what could they possibly be doing." My mom started walking toward the steps. "Chasity tell your friend that all of your clothes don't look good on her and this is not a shopping center." I heard Hunter yelling down the steps. I saw Veronica behind him carrying maybe half of my closet. Were they literally fighting over my clothes?

"We can finish this in the car." I said walking towards the door not caring about my clothes. "Uhm Veroncia it looks as if Chasity is donating clothes. "She's not Mrs. Hickens and I don't know what part of that don't she understand." I heard the end of that conversation and walked out of the door. "Just meet me there." I yelled and got in my car. I watched them both run outside but instead I drove off. By this time I was angry and didn't realize I was in Dylan's car.

"Hey Chasity!" Kayla said as I walked in the salon. I looked at the time and I was seventeen minutes late. "I really hope you didn't start on someone else." I said frowning. She smiled and shook her head. "No babe I didn't, Mrs. Hickens text me and said you were running late." I smiled with relief. Note to self; Text mom and thank her. While I sat in the chair and waited for Kayla to start I decided to call Dylan my lovely brother. He was amazing and was like a dad to me, since dad traveled a lot Dylan is basically the man of the house.

"Hey!" I said as soon as he answered. His voice was raspy clarifying that he had just woke up. "What Chasity? I'm sleeping!" He said. Before I could say anything else he immediately cut me off, "Wait Chas are you okay?" I laughed at his craziness. "Yes Dylan I'm okay why would I not be?" I wondered. I watched Kayla walk back over with the towels and shampoo in her hand. "Hey Dylan I'm getting my hair done but I was in such a rush I accidentally took your car with the spare key I have, I could have sworn I parked on the left side of the garage."I heard him getting out of bed and grabbing the spare keys he had for me. "Damn Chas pay attention. Mom moved your car last night because she had groceries in my car and wanted it to be closer to the door since she didn't have no one to help get them out." He told me.

"Okay cool! I have to go." I said hanging up the phone. Kayla wrapped the towel around my neck and laid my head in the sink.

"You almost killed me and I can't wait to tell Chasity." I heard Veronica. I was definitely not ready for them to continue arguing. I was just so ready for this camping trip.

*later that night*

"Everyone ready?" Mom yelled walking back in the house. "Yesss!" We all said in sync. We loaded up the minivan and drove to meet dad at the park and ride.

While we were on the bus Dylan and Veronica sat across from me and Hunter. I watched Dylan as he flirted with Veronica. "Get a room." I told the two of them."Please, Dylan will be the last person I decide to be with." I heard Veronica say. Dylan rolled his eyes and put his head phones in. Veronica has never really had a boyfriend and I always thought it was because she was a little on the weird side when it came to boys, she never knew what to say.

*3 hours later*

When we arrived to the cabin, everyone was hungry by then because we didn't eat before we left. "How about we sit and roast some marshmallows?" My dad asked. "Sure honey." Mom answered and kissed his cheek.

We picked rooms and unpacked quickly and made our way back to the open area outside. Sitting outside felt really good. Once in a long time our entire family was together again.

"So Chas what are your plans after graduation?" My father asked. I looked at everyone nervously since I haven't quite told them I was moving in with Hunter. I felt him squeeze my hand and I felt a little more comfortable.

We all continued to talk for the rest of the night. I enjoyed the time I spent with my family with the company of the best friend and my soon to be husband.
