Chapter One

The tall, grey man looked at his watch.
'They should be here any minute now,' he muttered to his wife Anne, who had white hair and blue eyes.
Their flat was old and cramped, with cobwebs hanging in the corners of the room. Most of their furnishing was extremely dusty. They had one son, Lewis.
At 27, he joined UNIT, an alien investigation headquarters. His headquarters were in London and he worked from 7am to 8pm every day. Sometimes (well, most of the time) Anne and Lewis's dad missed him terribly, But one thing Lewis would never forget was a huge argument with his dad once. Lewis was attracted to men.
His dad and he had argued over his orientation repeatedly over and over again, non stop. His mother sometimes gave her say in the scene, saying that her brother had a best friend that was attracted to men (in other words, gay) and she said that it was a free world. But the argument came to an abrupt halt when one day, Lewis's father told him that he was "a disgrace to the family". Even Anne clasped her hand over her mouth. Lewis found it unforgivable and began to pack up, ready to leave home. When something extraordinary happened.

The wind was swishing and the clouds were grey. Lewis was in his room, stuffing away clothes into his leaving trunk and folding bedclothes. His room was small and a tiny bit cramped. Lewis himself had a slightly unshaven face and a long flock of raven-coloured hair. He had hazel, deep eyes and was wearing a navy shirt with denim jeans.
Lewis's father had began to drink. He hadn't before. The direction he was taking it wasn't good. Not long after,  Andy (his dad) became addicted. He would go to the pub as soon as he finished work, and wouldn't come home until after midnight.

One night, Andy walked home and saw his exhausted wife sitting on the living room armchair. Her expression was worrying and her face was pale.  Andy looked at her for a while and stumbled, clearly drunk. He then strolled over to her, reaching up to her face.

'No, Andrew, no, please, honey. Please,' Anne begged him. 'Please, no. Don't do it.'                 Slightly grinning, Andy held up his fist, which was firmly clenched.

'Aargh. Nooo,' she moaned, her eye black. 'Pleas-nooo, aargh!' she screamed.

Lewis, it happened to be, was in the hallway, just about to open the door, when he heard the screams from his mother. He peeked through the mostly-closed door and saw Anne, who ran away, without eyeing Lewis. He ran in and grabbed his father's fist, which he bent down to the sofa's direction. Lewis suddenly stopped, and his father dropped onto the sofa. He silently screamed, his mouth opening to reveal a grey cloud of smoke whisking out of it. It whished into thin air, forming into the shape of an angel. It had almost-triangular wings, with meaningless grey eyes. It was brought to life then, and the sight of the angel Lewis had seen a second before was now the same, except stone. He heard a strange, materialising noise.

A tall, lean, raven-haired handsome young man was standing in with his hand out in the doorway of a blue police box that looked as if it was from the 1970s.

'Quickly, now. I'm the Doctor. Come with me,' the man said gravely. 'Oh, and by the way: don't blink.'
